Jimmy Kimmel and Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel tried to make light of Donald Trump’s victory in the United States presidential election as millions of Americans ponder Kamala Harris’ defeat, but added a sinister warning at the end.

The Republicans stunned the USA by dominating the election, soundly winning both the popular vote and electoral college as well as several key swing states despite a manifesto containing worrying policies, for some, concerning women’s rights, the economy and freedom of the media.

So in the midst of the fears and worries, the 56-year-old television host and popular personality tried to turn the situation into a bit of humor to give audiences something to laugh about as he made one very key request to the 78-year-old Trump.

“My only request to President-elect Trump,” Kimmel said live on his show. “Is that he let me share a prison cell with Taylor Swift.

“I’m really good at making bracelets and I think we’d get along just fine. We’ll see how funny that is in six months when the great talk show host roundup begins.”

Kimmel gives grave prophecy

The host also went on to liken the billionaire to Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars, the evil emperor who subjugates the galaxy to his darkness until Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader (and later Rey Skywalker and Ben Solo) manage to stop him.

But on a serious note, he did offer a cold assessment of the situation as he warned of what a Republican government with a full mandate and control of the Representatives, Senate and Supreme Court could do to the USA.

“It was a terrible night last night. It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country go,” Kimmel added. “For healthcare, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech.

“It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the truth, and democracy, and decency, and it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him.

“And guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him, too, you just don’t realize it yet.”
