On Sunday, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys squared off in a match that should have been between two NFC heavyweights. At the start of the fourth, the Lions were up 37-9, but it’s not all good news for the team after what happened to Aidan Hutchinson.

While sacking quarterback Dak Prescott, Hutchinson suffered a horrible leg injury that required him to be carted off the field. It’s speculated that a tibia and fibula break will sideline him for the rest of the year.

Future Hall of Fame defensive end JJ Watt tweeted about the situation.

Watt is right about the horrible injury.

Hutchinson has been a great young player for the emerging Lions, and his loss will be felt both on and off the field.

Hutchinson was certainly on pace to make another Pro Bowl in 2024 after one of the best starts to a season in his career.

Through the season’s first four games, he had 16 tackles, six tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, and a league-leading six-and-a-half sacks.

His numbers, as of now, should have also put him in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year, but that will all now be derailed.

Aidan Hutchinson Is Likely Done For The Year

Though it hasn’t been confirmed, the chances of Hutchinson’s season being over are highly likely.

If it is true that he broke his tibia and fibula, that is almost a certainty. According to Cleveland Clinic, a few months is the average recovery time for such an injury.

Of course, that’s just for normal people, not athletes who must return to performing extremely physical activities.

You can be confident that the Lions wouldn’t want to rush his return.

Aidan Hutchinson, one of the NFL’s early favorites for Defensive Player of the Year honors, was injured in the Lions’ Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys, and it did not look good.

While the Detroit Lions are on their way to a decisive Week 6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, Sunday’s win will cost them big time.

Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson stayed down on the field after sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott near the start of the third quarter.

It was clear by his reaction and the other players that something was wrong.

Hutchinson’s lower left leg made contact with Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill and appeared to snap.

Players immediately started to pray as a cart would come out.

The Lions led the Dallas Cowboys 34-6 at the time of Hutchinson’s injury.

They are well on their way to improving to 4-1 and have looked like one of the best teams in the NFL.

However, losing Hutchinson for a while would severely impact their hopes of making the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
