NFL fans are teeing off on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets for walking out to a popular song on a boombox before they were throttled by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon.

Aaron Rodgers and company looked to avoid a season series sweep at the hands of their division foes on Sunday, but the result was a full-blown disaster. The Jets were crushed 40-14, with second-stringer Tyrod Taylor throwing both New York touchdowns in garbage time.

Before the game, the Jets tried to get pumped up by blasting the 1995 hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise” by the late Coolio:

That obviously didn’t age well for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. Predictably, social media was full of priceless jokes about the matter:

“Aaron Rodgers no longer has it,” a fan said.

This is as Jets as it gets,” wrote another.

“Taking L’s in a Loser’s paradise,” quipped a fan.

“Exited to “Send in the Clowns”…,” joked another.

“Clown organization,” one user said.

“Rodgers is actually so washed,” a fan remarked.

“What’re they listening to after losing 40-8?,” asked another.

it’s like walking into a walmart to make yourself think you are in good shape,” joked a fan.

Aaron Rodgers & Jets Should Split After 2024

It’s almost impossible to make a case for the Jets and Rodgers continuing this marriage in 2025. It simply hasn’t worked out, and both sides need to call a divorce while they’re ahead.

Rodgers’ 2024 stat line isn’t terrible by any means, and he is still a capable starter in this league. But the Jets have too many roster holes to fill up, so the wise bet is to trade or release Rodgers and find a new QB to build around.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers dropped a compelling hint about which team he’d like to play for if he doesn’t return to Gotham in 2025.

Aaron Rodgers’ first full season with the Jets has been a disaster of epic proportions. Though his stat line is far from awful (3,511 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions), Rodgers has done nothing to elevate this team from bottom-feeder to Super Bowl contender.

Head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas were fired in a span of six weeks. The Jets gave up a valuable draft pick to the Las Vegas for star wideout Davante Adams, who also hasn’t done enough to fix this anemic offense.

During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, Aaron Rodgers praised the state of of Tennessee and seemingly hinted at an interest in joining the Titans.

“The great state of Tennessee, phenomenal state. Great people out there…no state income tax. Lotta great country music, barbeque down there…Memphis.”

The Titans make sense for Rodgers if he’s prioritizing the lifestyle, greater income (no state tax) and of course some input on personnel decisions. But this team has clinched a third straight losing and non-playoff season, so it’s not the most attractive destination if he wants to compete for Super Bowls.

Tennessee would offer Rodgers a quality wide receiver in Calvin Ridley and a 1,000-yard rusher in Tony Pollard, but there’s not much else here to suggest Rodgers could push them to championship contention.

Aaron Rodgers & Jets Should Break Up

Rodgers previously stated that he’d like to stay with the Jets, but it’s hard to think of any positives from that. Woody Johnson reportedly pushed for the Jets to bench the four-time MVP, and A-Rod threw shade at the owner by stating the importance of backing up the front office and coaching staff.

It’s hard to guess what Rodgers’ market would look like if he were traded or released. The bottom line is that his age-42 season should not be wasted with the Jets.
