Denver Broncos quarterbacks Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson decided to spend the holiday season together with their partners.

Heading into training camp, veterans Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson and rookie Bo Nix (the No. 12 pick of the draft) had a three-man battle for the Broncos’ starting quarterback job. The gig was ultimately won by the rookie out of Oregon.

Sometimes, the nature of the QB competition can cause some rift between teammates. Steve Young and Joe Montana weren’t exactly best friends during their tenures in San Francisco, and Ben Roethlisberger had no interest in mentoring Mason Rudolph after the Pittsburgh Steelers used a 2018 third-round pick on him.

But it looks like the bond is awfully strong between Stidham, Wilson and Bo Nix. The quarterbacks, along with their wives and girlfriends, decided to spend the holiday season together with matching pajamas:

If that’s not the sign of a tight-knit quarterback room, what is?

The 24-year-old Bo Nix is having a phenomenal rookie season in Mile High City, completing 64.3 percent of pass attempts for 3,235 yards, 22 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions in 15 games.

Nix has already guided Denver (9-6) to their first winning season since 2016. They can clinch the franchise’s first playoff berth since 2015 with a victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, or against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18.

Broncos Made The Right Decision With Bo Nix

Some questioned the Broncos’ decision to release Russell Wilson in the offseason. For one, he had a stellar bounce-back season under Sean Payton and nearly guided them to the playoffs a year ago. On top of that, Wilson cost them a whopping $85 million in dead money.

But it’s obvious that the Broncos knew what they were doing with Nix all along. Payton was adamant that he was the quarterback they wanted, and Nix’s production up to this point speaks for itself.

Sometimes, family isn’t about shared DNA but about the bonds we choose to create. Bo Nix, the Denver Broncos quarterback, and Tez Johnson, the Oregon Ducks wide receiver, are the perfect example of this. Their relationship, rooted in brotherhood, football, and shared dreams, is nothing short of inspiring.

Let’s dive into their journey to uncover how their connection redefines what it means to be family.

Bo Nix And Tez Johnson: A Bond Forged On The Field

Bo Nix and Tez Johnson first crossed paths at Pinson Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Under the guidance of Bo’s father, Patrick Nix, who was the team’s head coach, the two became teammates. Their relationship quickly grew beyond the gridiron. Recognizing Tez’s talent and friendly demeanor, Bo’s family welcomed him into their home.

Tez had faced a challenging upbringing filled with hardships and uncertainty. He described it as “chaotic,” with violence and instability a daily reality. Patrick Nix initially offered Tez a place to stay as a temporary arrangement. However, the Nix family saw his potential and warmth, ultimately adopting him into their family when he was 15.

Winning Together At Pinson Valley High

The addition of Tez to the Nix household brought the family closer, both on and off the field. Alongside Bo and his biological brother Caleb, Tez helped Pinson Valley win the Class 6A State Championship in 2018. That year, Bo earned Alabama’s prestigious Mr. Football Award and credited Tez for his role in their shared success.

Tez’s exceptional skills as a wide receiver, highlighted by impressive high school stats like 106 receptions for 1,457 yards and 10 touchdowns in a single season, made him a standout athlete. His most memorable game featured 17 catches for 247 yards and three touchdowns, making his legacy in Alabama high school football history.

The Journey To College Football

Tez began his college football career at Troy University, where he consistently performed at a high level. However, in 2023, he transferred to the University of Oregon, reuniting with Bo Nix, now the Ducks’ quarterback. Together, they lit up the field, with Tez racking up 1,182 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in their first season as teammates. Their on-field chemistry reflected the deep bond they shared off the field, making their partnership one of the most exciting in college football.

Bo Nix’s Family

Bo Nix comes from a family deeply rooted in football. His father, Patrick Nix, played quarterback at Auburn University and is a respected coach. Bo’s younger biological brother, Caleb Nix, also follows in their father’s footsteps. Caleb, once a high school quarterback, now plays safety for the Clemson Tigers and aspires to join the NFL.

Bo also has two sisters, Emma Grace and Sara. Emma, an Auburn University graduate, married her childhood friend, JD Davis, in 2020 and shares her life on Instagram. Sara, the youngest sibling, keeps a lower profile, but she is no less a part of the family’s strong support system.

Tez Johnson: From Struggles To Success

Tez’s story is one of its kind. Growing up in a difficult environment, he often didn’t know where his next meal would come from. He vividly remembers the challenges, saying, “Violence was simply a part of our daily life.”

When he joined the Nix family, Tez’s life took a turn. With their unwavering support, he pursued his dream of playing football at the highest level. His biological mother, Shamika Johnson, expressed pride in Tez’s opportunities, saying, “My child has been able to live out a dream and a life I couldn’t provide for him.”
