Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss had some compelling advice for Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams as trade rumors surrounding the veteran wide receiver and New York Jets continue to ramp up.

Davante Adams has been linked to the Jets for almost a year now, and for one obvious reason: His former Green Bay Packers teammate, Aaron Rodgers, was traded to the Jets ahead of last year’s draft.

In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported last November that the Jets contacted the Raiders about a possible Adams trade, but Las Vegas made it clear that the perennial Pro Bowler was not available.

During his appearance on Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams”, Randy Moss advised Adams to reunite with Rodgers in New York and pursue a championship ring:

“I don’t see why he should not chase a ring….he’s made enough money…For him to chase a ring, I mean, I chased one…when I let go of Minnesota Vikings, I didn’t know what I was gonna do or where I was gonna go. And then I had an opportunity to go play for the Patriots…

The advice for him, just keep being yourself man and go get a ring. If he has an opportunity to get it, I don’t think he has had an opportunity to be in the big game yet…when you sit up here and work so hard to get to a point…I wish him well, and I want him to go get it.”

Moss added that he doesn’t view the Raiders as a team close to title contention since they play in the same division as Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Moss spent two years (2005 to 2006) on a struggling Oakland Raiders team before he was traded to the Patriots in the 2007 offseason. Needless to say, the move revived the longtime Vikings superstar’s career.

Moss and Tom Brady set numerous records together in 2007, and the Patriots won their first 18 games en route to a Super Bowl 42 appearance. There, they fell to Eli Manning’s New York Giants in a historic upset.

Davante Adams Makes Perfect Sense For Jets

The Jets are in win-now mode with a 40-year-old Rodgers as their quarterback. Together, Rodgers and Adams led the Packers to four NFC Championship Game appearances (2014, 2016, 2019 and 2020).

With the Raiders nowhere close to Super Bowl contention, it only makes sense for Adams to reunite with the four-time MVP and pursue a Super Bowl contender in New York. Just look at the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who reunited Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski en route to a Super Bowl 55 championship.

The Raiders could use draft capital to help their rebuilding phase, and Adams is one of their best trade chips. If the Jets were to land Adams, they would emerge as Kansas City’s’ biggest challenger in the AFC.

Cameras caught Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams expressing his frustration with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during the team’s roller-coaster of a 2023 season.

On Wednesday, Netflix released all eight episodes of its “Receiver” docuseries that spotlighted Davante Adams, Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers), George Kittle (49ers), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions) and Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) during the 2023 season.

The series showed several instances of Adams getting fed up with Garoppolo during the first half of the season. In the third episode, sideline cameras show Adams expressing his frustrations during the team’s Week 6 home game against the New England Patriots (WARNING: CLIP CONTAINS LANGUAGE THAT IS NSFW):

(I gotta get the (expletive) out of here before I lose my (expletive) life. I ain’t never been hit this many (expletive) times in my career. Every game (I get (expletive) up.”

But that wasn’t all. After the Raiders fell 26-14 to the Detroit Lions in Week 8 on “Monday Night Football”, the team benched Garoppolo in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell. Head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Tom Telesco were fired, with Antonio Pierce and Champ Kelly replacing them.

Davante Adams also admitted that he “signed off on” the Raiders’ decision to bench Garoppolo in favor of O’Connell and that a change was necessary if he were to remain with the AFC West club:

The Raiders improved immensely following the coaching change. They went 5-4 under Pierce (5-5 in games started by O’Connell), highlighted by a road win over Patrick Mahomes and the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.

In April, Adams also made it clear that he’s happy in Las Vegas and does not want to be traded, per Tashan Reed of The Athletic.

Expectations Are Higher Davante Adams & Raiders This Year

The Raiders will be expected to show improvement after a tremendous offseason by Pierce and new GM Tom Telesco. They signed Gardner Minshew II as QB insurance in case O’Connell doesn’t improve, as well as former Miami Dolphins star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.

Las Vegas also drafted prized Georgia tight end and prospect Brock Bowers, giving the offense another weapon. With Pierce assuming full-time head coach duties, Raiders expectations have naturally increased.
