The San Francisco 49ers didn’t need long to provide a brutal injury update on superstar running back Christian McCaffrey following their ugly loss to the Buffalo Bills on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

Christian McCaffrey left the second quarter of Sunday’s snow-filled game after suffering a non-contact injury. The reigning rushing champion gave himself up and slid to the ground to avoid being tackled before leaving the game for good.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that McCaffrey suffered a PCL injury that may be season-ending. “Run CMC” missed the first eight games of 2024 because of a calf/Achilles injury.

A Horrible Season Gets Worse For Christian McCaffrey & 49ers

Christian McCaffrey is, unfortunately, no stranger to the injury bug. The 28-year-old missed all but 10 games over the 2020 and 2021 seasons as a member of the Carolina Panthers. Sadly, this is already the third season where McCaffrey will have missed most of a campaign with injuries.

VIDEO: Cameras Caught Buffalo Bills Fan Trying To Knock Down 49ers Jake Moody’s Field Goal Attempt With A Snowball During ‘SNF’

A Buffalo Bills fan tried to use the snow to the team’s advantage, hoping to thwart Jake Moody’s first-quarter field goal attempt.

Jake Moody opened the scoring with a 33-yard field goal through the snow. Making any kick in those conditions is impressive enough, but this Moody kick had to deal with another minor diversion.

As you can see in the clip below, a Buffalo fan tried to thwart Moody’s kick by throwing a snowball towards the football. As you’d guess, the fan didn’t even come close to hitting it, but we’ll say “A” for effort.

If it made the Bills fan feel better, Jake Moody wound up missing his next two field goal attempts. And Buffalo carried a comfortable 21-3 lead into the half against an unraveling 49ers team.

Jake Moody Is Having A Tough Sophomore Season

San Francisco’s second-year kicker has had a tough go in 2024. Coming into tonight’s game, the 25-year-old had a mediocre 81.8 field goal percentage and missed four extra point attempts.

The 49ers have been hit hard by injuries this year, but they certainly didn’t think there’d be a question mark at kicker this year. Moody’s struggles are just another example of everything going wrong for San Francisco.
