Now that the New York Jets have decided to fire Robert Saleh just five games into the season, many have been rewinding and looking at some signs that this was on the way. One major headline was the drama between Saleh and Aaron Rodgers before the season.
Of course, June now feels like such a long time ago, but from June 11-12, Rodgers missed the Jet’s mandatory two-day minicamp because he had a pre-planned trip to go to Egypt with friends.
However, Rodgers insisted that the relationship between him and Saleh was still “Great.“
“Robert and I are great,” he said. “We had great conversations throughout the offseason, had a fun one last night in his office till later on. So, it is what it is. I’m an adult. I knew what I was getting into.
Now, though, reports indicate that this incident was the beginning of the end regarding the connection between the head coach and quarterback.
WFAN revealed that Rodgers and Saleh had a heated argument after a postgame press conference, where Rodgers wouldn’t even look at his coach.

If all of that is true, then it becomes hard to believe that Rodgers was not involved at all in the decision to fire Saleh.
Aaron Rodgers Denied Being Behind the Firing
However, Rodgers recently deflected all suspicion from people thinking he had anything to do with Saleh getting fired.
“As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I’m not gonna spend more than one sentence in response to it,” Rodgers said on the “Pat McAfee Show.” “And that is that I resent any of those accusations because they are patently false. It’s interesting the amount of power that people think that I have, which I don’t. I love Robert.”
Of course, this feels like a situation that has barely scratched the surface of what happened.
VIDEO: Former NFL Star QB Believes He Spotted Clear Evidence Of A Serious Issue Going On Between Aaron Rodgers & Robert Saleh Following Jets’ Stunning Loss To Broncos
Former Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback and NFL MVP winner Boomer Esiason believes tension is growing between signal-caller Aaron Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh following the team’s stunning Week 4 home loss to the Denver Broncos.
The biggest upset of Week 4 saw the visiting Broncos defeat Aaron Rodgers’ Jets 10-9 in a rain-filled contest. New York kicker Greg Zuerlein missed a late go-ahead 50-yard field goal, and Denver somehow emerged victorious even though rookie QB Bo Nix only threw for 60 passing yards.
Speaking on the latest episode of the “Boomer & Gio” show that he co-hosts with Gregg Giannotti on WFAN Sports Radio, Esiason suggested that “a major issue” is developing between the four-time league MVP and the fourth-year head coach.
“When I see Aaron Rodgers on the sideline, and I see him after the game…I’m speculating here, but I’m only speculating because I’ve gone through it. But yesterday’s post-game press conference, there is a major issue there. They both will deny it, I guarantee it, but there is an issue there.”
Esiason added that Aaron Rodgers is “dealing with a coach that I think he doesn’t respect.” You can see the clip of Esiason’s interesting take below:

After the game, Rodgers appeared frustrated when a reporter told him that Saleh made comments about dialing back the cadences on the offensive side of the ball. The future Hall of Famer countered by saying, “The other way is to hold them accountable.”
Rodgers has put together a fine stat line through four games, with a 64.1 completion percentage for 849 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception. But the Jets haven’t exactly looked like a Super Bowl, with their two wins coming against opponents (the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots) who have a combined record of 1-6.
Aaron Rodgers & Jets Look To Bounce Back In London
The Jets have little time to reflect on their stunning loss to the Broncos. The team now must prepare for a lengthy journey overseas for Sunday’s Week 5 game against Sam Darnold and the 4-0 Minnesota Vikings.
Rodgers and the Jets were dealt a big break when Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, so New York is just one game out of first for the AFC East heading into next week’s action.
