Tom Brady

Tom Brady was a part of the FOX broadcast crew for Sunday’s Arizona Cardinals-San Francisco 49ers game, but it appears Skip Bayless wasn’t all that impressed by the performance.

The game ended up being a thrilling one, with the Cardinals pulling off the surprise 24-23 victory. Despite the action, Bayless wasn’t a fan of Brady’s call of the game.

“I’ve been listening to Cardinals-49ers commentary by Capt. Obvious…who just talks and talks more and more obvious,” said Bayless.

Brady is in his first year as color commentator

The comments come as Brady navigates his first season in an NFL broadcast booth. He is currently working alongside play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt as the No.1 team for the network.

Bayless’ criticism aside, many have pointed to Brady’s improvements over the opening few weeks after a shaky first week that was widely panned.

It isn’t the first time Bayless has been critical of Brady’s work, as back in mid-September he compared the former New England Patriots star to Tony Romo.

“I listened to Tom Brady for a whole game today, then Tony Romo for a whole game,’ Bayless wrote on X.

Romo gives you far more X&O insight and enlightenment. Some ex QBs can see it and say it. Some can’t. Maybe Brady played more with indescribable feel and instinct. But … he’s just a booth rookie.”

Although Bayless hasn’t been a fan of Brady so far, he’ll have to get used to him given the former QB is in the first year of his 10-year, $375 million deal to call games.

That’s more than Skip is currently making, as he is a free agent after leaving his long-time show, Undisputed, over the summer.

While it is unclear what is next for Bayless, recent rumors have suggested he could launch a new show with friend and rapper Lil Wayne.
