How on Earth did Patrick Mahomes survive a non-contact injury? It appears Taylor Swift had something indirectly to do with it.

Mahomes had all of Arrowhead Stadium holding its breath for a brief moment on Monday night.

The Chiefs quarterback initially appeared to suffer a significant injury that may end his year during the fourth quarter of Kansas City’s eventual 30-24 Week 9 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Chiefs were trailing 17-10 when their star man evaded pressure in the pocket and darted forward before stopping to flip the ball to Samaje Perine in the end zone.

Patrick Mahomes was soon left in pain when his left leg appeared to buckle.

Not long afterward, he would walk on his own, and before you knew it, he would be running on the sidelines.

Many fans took to social media and thought Taylor Swift was using magic or voodoo to ensure the Chiefs quarterback was not harmed.

The Chiefs continued their perfect start to the season after a thrilling encounter at Arrowhead Stadium, where Kareem AJ Hunt scored the winning touchdown on their first overtime drive.

Patrick Mahomes Downplays Non-Contact Ankle Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 34-20 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night came with a frightening moment when Patrick Mahomes appeared to injure himself on a touchdown drive.

Arrowhead Stadium fell silent as Mahomes had to be helped off the field, making sure not to put any weight on his left ankle.

After the game, Patrick Mahomes spoke in a postgame presser about what was going through his mind during that play.

“I was obviously running for the goal line, was committed to running the football, and at the last second saw Samaje and so kind of awkwardly rolled the ankle a little bit,” Mahomes said. “Definitely scary, I think it hurt more just ’cause it was the same ankle I rolled last week, so it scared me a little bit but once I took my breath and calmed down it ended up being not too bad.”

“Whenever you do something, and it’s non-contact, you don’t know exactly what happens, and you get that sharp pain, you always fear the worst,” continued Mahomes. “You feel the pain, and that scares you ’cause obviously I’ve dealt with ankles before, but (I) just laid there, and as time went on the pain subsided… I just got back to it and got back moving again and felt comfortable going out there.”

Luckily for everybody, he eased all fears as Patrick Mahomes returned to the field on the Chiefs’ next possession.
