Taylor Swift has practically taken ownership of the symbol of a snake in pop culture after the release of reputation in 2017, and in a strange way, she has Kim Kardashian to thank. It was the SKIMS founder who first called her a snake publicly, and while at the time that hurt the singer terribly, she has turned the insult to her advantage.
Taylor Swift made a scathing speech to introduce “thanK you, aIMee” for the first time.
The snake is now a Taylor Swift trademark, and on World Snake Day this year, swifties celebrated making fun of Kim. They brought up how Taylor had turned their feud into an incredibly successful album, and speculated on what this could mean to the singer’s re-recording of reputation.
Swifties Make Fun Of Kim Kardashian On World Snake Day
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s feud with Taylor Swift is now a moment in pop culture that everyone remembers.
Kanye had put out a song where he called Taylor a “b*tch” and claimed that he made her famous, also saying that he might have sex with her. He and Kim said that Taylor had given her permission for this, which the pop star denied. What followed was the release of an edited recording of a phone call between Kanye and Taylor that led to a lot of backlash against her.
On Snake Day back in 2016, Kim Kardashian took a dig at Taylor on X/Twitter, calling her a snake, which the singer has since turned to her advantage.
Now, swifties are using her old post to mock her.
“it’s international snake day so never forget how kim lied & called taylor swift a snake so she brought out a 172-by-40-foot snake every night on tour and then made millions from the tour,” one fan posted.
A lot of swifties were also speculating that Taylor would use this particular day to announce the release of reputation (Taylor’s Version). Most of all, though, they were praising Taylor for turning such a dark moment of her life into one of her most successful career moves.
Taylor Swift Referenced The Feud In Her New Album
“All that time you were throwing punches / I was building something / And I couldn’t wait to show you it was real / Screamed, ‘F**k you, Aimee’ to the night sky / As the blood was gushing / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”
Taylor Swift wrote a song on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, called “thanK you aIMee”, a not-so-subtle reference to Kim Kardashian. In it, she recalls how she felt during the time of their feud, which she has many times described as the worst time of her life.
Travis Kelce was dismissive when someone brought up “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” in an interview.
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman / But she used to say she wished that you were dead,” Taylor sings, perhaps the harshest lyric in the song.
Kim Kardashian allegedly reacted to this and was less than thrilled. A source told PEOPLE that the reality TV star is “over it and thinks Taylor should move on.” Apparently, Kim “doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on it” since “it’s been literally years.”
Well, judging by the song, Taylor was horribly hurt by Kim and Kanye West, so it might be a while before she’s “over it.”
