Taylor Swift's fans and Chiefs army leap to her defense following a nasty comment

The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs have become heated rivals in recent years, owing to a number of close and controversial encounters between the two. Normally, these games have high stakes — such as when the Chiefs eliminated the Bills from the playoffs last season on their way to a second successive Super Bowl title.

Sunday’s rematch in Buffalo saw the Bills end the Chiefs’ perfect start to 2024 and their 15-game winning streak to boot. Josh Allen outdueled Patrick Mahomes at Highmark Stadium, as the Bills quarterback scored a highlight-reel rushing touchdown to deliver the hosts a 30-21 victory over the visiting champs. But where the Bills have won the battle, the Chiefs and their vocal support remain confident they will win the war as they pursue a historic third consecutive Super Bowl win.

Bills player’s wife takes a shot at Swift

Taylor Swift did not attend Sunday’s Chiefs-Bills showdown due to her Eras Tour commitments in Toronto, Canada. But the superstar singer-songwriter, who remains in a loving relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, must have been surprised to learn that she caught a “stray” insult from a Bills player’s wife.

Ryleigh Spector, who is married to Buffalo linebacker Baylon Spector, took to Instagram Stories to proclaim that she has never been a Swiftie, a comment written in small font that naturally did not escape Swift‘s biggest fans.

Within two days, Spector had locked her Instagram account in response to a flood of comments, which even extended to X/Twitter. Some users claimed Spector had “no class” for invoking Swift following a game from which the “Lavender Haze” singer was absent, while others called her childish and jealous.

Certainly, Swift’s fans overreacted in defending their idol, who frankly has much bigger things to worry about than winning the approval of a Bills player’s wife. But the loss in Buffalo does offer more proof that Swift is Kansas City’s “good luck charm”, and the Chiefs hope she will make a special trip to North Carolina for their next game against the Carolina Panthers.
