Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is getting destroyed on social media for his answer on Mike McCarthy’s job security following the club’s humiliating 47-9 home loss to the Detroit Lions.

Many frustrated fans called for Jerry Jones to fire his head coach following another ugly loss at AT&T Stadium. Dallas is now 0-3 at home, having been outscored 119-53 over those three defeats.

After the game, Jones spoke to reporters and was asked if a head coaching change was on the table. Per David Moore of The Dallas Morning News, the polarizing owner gave a typical Jerry Jones answer.

“I haven’t even considered that,” Jones said. “I’m not considering that, so you’re clear.”

The 82-year-old Jones was then reminded that he made a mid-season coaching change (in 2010, when Wade Phillips was replaced by Jason Garrett). He fired back with, “Do you think I’m an idiot? I’m not.”

And social media wasted no time teeing off on Jones over his comments on the job status of his head coach:

Jones received immense backlash for bringing McCarthy back following last season’s 48-32 loss at Jerry World to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round. McCarthy only has one postseason victory over his first four seasons as head coach of the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are still very much in the playoff race with a 3-3 record, and history shows that Jones won’t fire a coach as long as they’re in that eight-to-nine-win range. So if a coaching change is to take place, it won’t happen until the end of 2024.

Jerry Jones Is Holding The Cowboys Back

Jones’ refusal to remove himself as the GM of the Cowboys has been the main issue for this organization since their last Super Bowl championship in the 1995 season.’

If Jones was building up a championship-caliber team, there’d be no complaints about his performance as a GM. But Jones is okay with mediocrity, as evidenced by his willingness to keep Jason Garrett as his head coach for 10 years despite recording only two playoff wins.

A video of Jerry Jones walking through the tunnel after watching his Dallas Cowboys get thrashed at home is going viral.

The Cowboys suffered an embarrassing blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, losing 47-9 ahead of their bye week.

Dallas was hardly ever in the game, with the Lions rushing to take a 21-3 lead in the first half and never letting up.

Jerry, who celebrated his 82nd birthday on the day, was hoping for a win. However, he was made to sit through a shameful showing from his team.

He looked spent while walking to the locker room after the game.

Even Cowboys Fans Couldn’t Bring Themselves To Feel Sorry For Jerry Jones

Fans have been blaming Jerry for the Cowboys’ struggles for years and are especially upset with the team owner for claiming he was “all in” during the most recent offseason before proving he was anything but.

“Well he deserves humble pie for not attempting to get an NFL running back. Still has 20 million in cap space,” someone pointed out. “He deserves every bit of it.”

“I’m glad this is how his birthday went,” another wrote.

“Team loses 47-9 but he still making money hand over fist. He’s 82 and a billionaire, I’m sure he’ll be just fine,” someone else suggested.

As mentioned above, the Cowboys are heading into a bye week, so Jones will get a bit of a break after turning 82. They will return to play the San Francisco 49ers in a ‘Sunday Night Football’ showdown on October 27.
