At this point in his Super Bowl-winning career, every NFL opponent who has faced the Kansas City Chiefs knows that you should never bet against Patrick Mahomes. As his teammate, Travis Kelce had to learn this lesson off the field, when a friendly wager against his quarterback over an NCAA football game led to complete humiliation on this week’s New Heights Show.

Kelce, a graduate of University of Cincinnati, backed his Bearcats against Mahomes’ Texas Tech Red Raiders as the two schools met as Big 12 opponents for the first time this weekend. Loser had to wear the school mascot head gear of the opposing team. At the end of Texas Tech’s thrilling 44-41 win over Cincinnati, Travis had a debt to pay.
One of the many traits that helped Travis Kelce catch Taylor Swift‘s eye is that he is a stand up guy and a man of his word. Before he started recording New Heights with his older brother Jason Kelce this week, he settled up on his bet.

Surely, Patrick was somewhere watching with a smile on his face as his trusted teammate felt the shame of defeat. As he put on the oversized Red Raider head gear, Jason teased him as only a big brother can.
“Honestly, there’s not that big of a difference,” the elder Kelce said with his trademark sarcasm that has become familiar to viewers of Monday Night Countdown this season. “It kinda looks like the exact same person.”
If that wasn’t funny enough, Jason got Travis to put his flourishing acting skills to work, which have been on display lately in the new FX series Grotesquerie and the new game show he is hosting on Amazon Prime Video, Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity.
“Yeehee! Come on down to Lubbock, Texas! We’ll throw tortillas at you. You come down here you’re gonna get your a** whooped!” he said in an impression of his most authentic Texas outlaw Raider Red voice.
Plenty of doubts linger over whether or not Kelce and Mahomes can keep up the Chiefs’ 4-0 start after a rash of injuries on offense, but one thing is for sure. The smell of that Red Raider mask will make Travis Kelce think twice before he bets against Patrick Mahomes again.
