Cameras caught a bizarre sideline interaction between Shane Waldron and Caleb Williams, suggesting the Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback is done with his offensive coordinator.
Caleb Williams and the Bears welcomed a two-win New England Patriots squad to Soldier Field today. This was the ultimate get-right game for a struggling Bears team that dropped its previous two games.
But the Bears have shown little fight against the rebuilding Patriots. And judging by Williams’ response to Waldron on the sideline, it looks like the rookie signal-caller has had it with his offensive coordinator:

It’s important to be patient with rookie quarterbacks, but Williams was drafted first overall for a reason. The Bears supplied him with four big-time playmakers in DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze and D’Andre Swift, so there’s no excuse for the offense to be this bad.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is among the front-runners to be the next HC fired. A loss to New England at home might be the final nail in the coffin for the third-year HC.
Caleb Williams Hasn’t Come As Advertised…Yet
While Jayden Daniels is having an MVP-like rookie year in Washington, Williams still hasn’t put it together. He came into today with only nine touchdowns against five interceptions while barely averaging over 200 passing yards a game.

The Chicago Bears continue to hit new lows under head coach Matt Eberflus, and the recent comments from DJ Moore won’t help the situation.
Following a week of distractions, where players openly questioned coaching decisions, the team came out unprepared and undisciplined as they lost 29-9 to the Arizona Cardinals.
DJ Moore was asked if head coach Matt Eberflus had lost his football team, and he did not give a ringing endorsement.
“I wanna say no, he responded.
On Sunday, FOX analyst and insider Jay Glazer added a new layer when the Bears told cornerback Tyrique Stevenson he would not start Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. “They’re benching him today,” Glazer said on the pre-show. “He’s being demoted. He’s not starting. But on Wednesday, when he found out he wasn’t starting, he actually pulled himself out of practice. That didn’t exactly go over great inside that locker room.”
ESPN insider Courtney Cronin added more to the report, stating, “Bears players asked for the same accountability from Chicago’s coaching staff that is expected of them in games following a disastrous loss in Washington that they aim to move past with a win in Arizona,” Cronin wrote on X.

Following the Bears’ 18-15 loss to Washington, head coach Matt Eberflus faced significant criticism for his game management and his comments after the game.
Eberflus made no friends when he downplayed the team allowing a 13-yard out route, setting up the Commanders’ successful Hail Mary.
He said it “didn’t matter.”
In the end, we saw that it indeed did matter.
Matt Eberflus Could Be The Next Head Coach To Be Fired
The Chicago Bears are 4-4 and in dead last in the NFC North.
Eberflus is now 3-18 on the road, including 0-18 on Sunday road games. That is a number that will surely get him fired before the year is out.
What makes it worse is that the three wins that he has came against quarterbacks Bailey Zappe, Sam Howell, and Joshua Dobbs.
The New York Jets have fired Robert Saleh, and the New Orleans Saints have fired Dennis Allen.
Matt Eberflus could very well make himself the third coach to go.
