The story of Aaron Hernandez captured the lives of many football and true crime fans worldwide. Hernandez was one of the most promising players in the NFL before going to jail and later, unfortunately, taking his own life.

The New England Patriots drafted Hernandez in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He joined a team led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. With Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots planned to run an unstoppable two-tight-end system.

Unfortunately, Hernandez got into some highly publicized trouble off the field when he took the life of former friend Odin Lloyd. The motive for Lloyd’s murder was deemed to be that he betrayed Hernandez’s trust.

Of course, he was tried and convicted in 2015, and after spending almost four years in total in police custody, Hernandez took his own life in 2017, and there has been much speculation as to why. FX’s ‘American Sports Story’ claims to know the reason.

FX’s ‘American Sports Story’ Claims That Kirk Manihane And Gerry Calahan Are Responsible For Aaron Hernandez’s D3ath

The clip, which Kirk Manihane reposted, depicts a recording of the Kirk and Callahan show in which Manihane reveals that Hernandez may have been “adjusting to prison life” and had a romantic interest.

Not only that, but Manihane reposted another part of the show, in which he revealed that the Pats were being sued by the Lloyd family. It seemed as though FX was claiming that Manihane revealing so much about the situation may have caused Hernandez’s apparent suicide.

Many fans and even analysts are going to have their own theories on why Hernandez took his own life, but the thing is, we will never truly know why the former star tight end did what he did. We know that it was a promising career, and the lives of two people ended too soon.

Odin Lloyd suffered a gruesome feat as he was shot dead back in 2013 by NFL athlete Aaron Hernandez. As Hernandez was immediately taken into custody, fans could not fathom initially what led to such a tragic state of affairs. As a matter of fact, Lloyd and Hernandez both met at a family function, which unknowingly was the start of a tragic end to Lloyd’s life story. Having crossed paths with Hernandez’s family, Lloyd soon became attracted to the sister of Hernandez’s fiancée.

This was something that did not sit well with Hernandez. As Shaneah Jenkins, sister of Shayanna Jenkins led a lavish life, quite in contrast to Llyod’s humble lifestyle. With the news of Aaron Hernandez, along with Ernest Wallace and Carlos shooting Lloyd, taking the world by storm, fans wanted to dive deep into Odin Lloyd’s story. Here’s everything you need to know about poor Odin Lloyd.

Who Was Odin Lloyd?

Odin Lloyd was born on November 14, 1985, in Saint Croix of the US Virgin Islands. Moving to the perilous city of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Lloyd wanted to move out and see the world. And in order to do that, little Odin’s only hope was football. Studying at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science, his true potential as an athlete came into the limelight.

Playing for his school team, Lloyd emerged as one of the most trustworthy linebackers, guiding his team to title glory. Lloyd then enrolled in Delaware State University, but he dropped out due to a lack of financial resources. Lloyd would then go on to sign with the Boston Bandits in the New England Football League, with eyes firmly set on making it into the NFL one day.

Reminiscing the promise Odin Lloyd had, his childhood coach Mike Branch stated, “His talent was off the charts… I could see something special in the kid. If football was something that could get him out of the hood and into college, that was my goal.” Unfortunately, everything came to a sudden stop when Aaron Hernandez decided to take matters into their own hands.

What happened between Odin Lloyd and Aaron Hernandez?

As mentioned earlier, Hernandez did not take Lloyd and Shaneah Jenkins’ relationship in a good light. However, things soon started to change as Lloyd began to get closer to the NFL star. In what was considered a faux pas for Lloyd, he was seen chatting with a group of people at a Boston nightclub who were apparently Hernandez’s enemies.

Such a sight enraged the NFL athlete, and he immediately made up his mind to punish Odin Lloyd. Bringing in Wallace and Ortiz, Odin was taken inside the car of Hernandez around 2:30 am on June 17, 2013. Moments later, police would find Lloyd dead, after which Hernandez would be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
