We have all seen the video by now that showed Jason Kelce grabbing a fan’s phone and throwing it to the ground, then turning to confront the man dressed in Penn State attire to call him an anti-gay slur.
Kelce appeared to use the same anti-gay slur that was directed to his brother, Travis, for being in a relationship with Taylor Swift.
Jason Kelce is now opening up more about the incident during the latest installment of his “New Heights” podcast.
“I’m not happy about the situation,” Kelce began. “Me reacting gave him the time of day and it also gave the situation notoriety. That’s what I regret. Alright. It didn’t deserve attention. It’s really stupid and if I just keep walking it’s a f–king nothing burger. Nobody sees it.
“Now it’s out there, and it just perpetuates more hate. The thing that I regret the most is saying that word, to be honest with you. That word he used, its just f–king ridiculous, it takes it to another level. It’s just off the wall, f–king over the line. As a human, it got under my skin. And it elicited a reaction and in the heat of the moment.
“I thought, ‘What can I say back to him? I’m gonna throw that s–t right back in his face because f–k him.’ I know now I shouldn’t have done that because now there is a video out there with me saying that word, him saying that word, and it’s not good for anybody. I think what I do regret is that now there is a video that is very hateful that is now online that has been seen by millions of people, and I share fault in perpetuating it and having it out there.”
Travis then jumped in and further defended Jason Kelce, stating, “I know it’s weighing on you, brother,” Travis said. “That s–t sucks. You shouldn’t feel this much — obviously, the scrutiny and media view on it and everybody passing around the videos out there. That’s gonna make it a bigger situation than what I think what it really is.

“But the real situation is you had some f–king clown come up to you and talk about your family, and you reacted in a way that was defending your family, and you might’ve used some words that you regret using, and that’s you just gotta kind of learn from and own, and I think you owning it and speaking about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people on this world and it shows what you said on Monday night. You don’t choose that. That’s just not who you are. I love you, brother, and I think you said that perfectly.”
Jason Kelce apologized during ESPN’s pregame show Monday night.
“In a heated moment, I decided to greet hate with hate,” Kelce said before ESPN’s broadcast of the Buccaneers-Chiefs game. “I fell short this week.”
Kelce added he’s “not proud” of the interaction with the fan, saying he “fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have.”
Penn State Police Investigate Cellphone Incident Involving Jason Kelce And Heckling Fan
Penn State University Police and Public Safety is investigating the cellphone altercation between retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce and a PSU fan last Saturday outside Beaver Stadium.
PSU public information officer Jacqueline Sheader confirmed to Will Graves of the Associated Press that the investigation process is ongoing.
A police spokesperson also confirmed the investigation to The Athletic and wrote that the department’s incident log contains an entry logged Saturday stating an “officer observed a visitor damaging personal property.”
The report’s listed potential offenses are “criminal mischief” and “disorderly conduct.”
Jason Kelce was walking toward Beaver Stadium when he suddenly stopped in his tracks to grab a fan’s cellphone and smash it before using an anti-gay slur.

Jemele Hill has picked a side following Jason Kelce’s surprising altercation with a Penn State fan on Saturday.
Kelce left the student needing a new phone after smashing it in retaliation for calling his brother, Travis Kelce, a homophobic slur.
The former Eagles star expressed regret over the incident on ‘Monday Night Countdown’ this week, claiming he was not proud and will do better moving forward.
“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” he said. “And in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think it leads to discourse, and [don’t think] it’s the right way to go about things.
“In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. So I think bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. It’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that.”

“He had nothing to apologize for,” she wrote on X, though he didn’t, technically.
Of course, Kelce has recognized he didn’t handle things in the best way and is looking to put it behind him.
Given that the confrontation had already happened in the heat of the moment, showing accountability was the next best thing, and he has been applauded for it.
Meanwhile, ESPN has opted not to dish out any punishment over the incident, however, it is being investigated by University Police and Public Safety (UPPS).
