Michael Strahan was dominant when he played in the NFL with the New York Giants. His 15-year career, all played the Giants, saw him end up in the Hall of Fame after being inducted into Canton in 2014.

Nate Boyer, on the other hand, had quite the opposite career. He only saw one season of NFL action after being in the Army. His career also took another turn when he landed some acting roles, making his big break in 2020 with Secret of Sinchanee.

Strahan caused some controversy among NFL fans after he refused to place his hand over his heart during the NFL on FOX pre-game show. He was the only one among others, such as Rob Gronkowski and Terry Bradshaw, to do so.

Strahan’s move caught Boyer’s attention, but his response was different from many people who responded to the move. In an interview with TMZ, Boyer defended the Hall of Fame defensive end to the surprise of many.

Could Michael Strahan Be Fired From Fox?

Many NFL fans were calling for the former NFL defensive end to be fired from his job at Fox. However, Boyer didn’t feel the same way. “It’s kind of ridiculous, to be completely honest,” said Boyer during an interview with TMZ.

Boyer added, “First of all, Mike has a deep, deep respect for the military. He’s done a lot of work in the veteran nonprofit space. He’s a military brat. You know, he grew up around this. This is part of his life.” Strahan’s dad was a member of the Military, as Boyer referenced.

“The gesture itself, he’s standing there with his hands crossed, not disrespectfully in any way,” he said before continuing, “I just don’t understand. I don’t understand that. It feels like people are just reaching, and they’re just picking at something, but it’s like, I mean, I’m offended by hearing that.”

There are no reported plans to discipline Strahan at FOX, and he’s even been defended by co-analyst Jay Glazer. Many fans seem to be overreacting to Strahan’s move, and it’s entirely possible that he did not do it intentionally.

REPORT: FOX Makes Decision On What’s Going To Happen To Michael Strahan Following His Controversial Actions During The National Anthem

Former NFL star Michael Strahan drew the ire of fans on social media after his ill-advised actions during the national anthem on Sunday.

The four-time First-Team All-Pro is being slammed for keeping his hands in front of him while “The Star-Spangled Banner” played as FOX broadcast its pregame show from the San Diego Naval Base before Veteran’s Day.

Strahan’s colleagues placed their right hands on their hearts, but the former New York Giants star kept his down, prompting some serious backlash, with viewers and fans urging the network to fire him.

According to the Daily Mail, however, FOX will not punish Strahan over what they believe was “an honest mistake.”

“His peers have his back and understand that he wasn’t making the moment about himself. There isn’t going to be any type of punishment or fine going Michael’s way,” a source told the outlet this week.

“He may address it, but he is weighing his options because he never thought this would have ever been a thing. He knows the man he is, and he almost doesn’t want to address the controversy to give it more life.”

Michael Strahan May Have Already Addressed The Backlash

Strahan did seemingly address the controversy on Monday, taking to Instagram to post a photo of his father, Major Gene W. Strahan, in uniform as he paid tribute to U.S. veterans.

“Thank you to all veterans and active service members who courageously risk their lives to protect us every day,” he wrote. “Your selfless service is beyond measure. Just as I honor my father, I keep all of you in my thoughts each and every day as we would not have the safety and freedoms we cherish without you. Thank You.”

In addition to his role at FOX, Strahan co-hosts ‘Good Morning America.’ He was not seen on Monday’s show.
