Angel Reese / Shaquille O'Neal

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese seems to have made a mistake by underestimating Shaq in an impromptu basketball challenge. Believe it or not, Reese on a spur of the moment on the court challenged the NBA legend to a competition betting a staggering $100,000 on a free throw.

Angel challenged Shaq that he couldn’t make a free throw and it was with her trademark humor that Reese issued the challenge, confident that the 52-year-old would miss, but to her surprise and everyone else’s, the Orlando Magic legend made the shot effortlessly, leaving Reese dumbfounded.

“I guess I owe him $100,000,” Reese joked on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by crying emojis. The video of the bet quickly went viral, leaving fans stunned at the figure at stake. Some commented, “That’s her entire contract,” while others joked, “Isn’t that her entire salary for 4 years?”

While the WNBA player may have lost the bet, she’s not worried about her wallet. With a four-year contract worth $324,383 with the Chicago Sky and multiple million-dollar sponsorships, including Reebok and Reese’s Pieces, Angel is far from worried about paying Shaq.

Still, the moment became one of the most talked about moments of the week on social media, showing that even the biggest stars can get caught up in the excitement of a friendly challenge.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily have had to evacuate their home this week because of Hurricane Helene.

The hurricane hit northern Florida pretty hard, causing major flooding and power loss.

Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog left their residence before the storm hit as a means of caution. Emily furnished her followers with an update on Friday.

“Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe,” she said via Instagram. “Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn’t compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It’s unfathomable.”

Emily is grateful that Helene did not affect the Mayfield home but revealed she was “praying nonstop” for the people dealing with the impact while also offering tangible assistance.

“I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help,” she added. “Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones.”
