Cheryl Reeve was furious with Connecticut Sun players and security had to defuse the tension

Cheryl Reeve was furious at the buzzer of Game 1 in the WNBA Semi-Finals as she rushed to confront the Connecticut Sun players and had to be stopped by security, so what actually happened?

A 73-70 victory at the Mohegan Sun Arena allowed the Sun to take the opening lead in the series as they battle for a place in the WNBA Finals and that loss what was on the Lynx head coach’s mind, but not in a tactical aspect.

As per The Athletic, there was a physical confrontation between her and some of her opponents after she ran up to them following the buzzer and the way the Sun chose to celebrate their triumph in front of their home fans, something Reeve wasn’t happy with.

The result was that stadium security had to intervene to split the warring camps up and to prevent any further WNBA action and repercussions for the situation with the rest of the series still to go at the time.

The Sun won Game 1 by a slender three points after Napheesa Collier failed to make a three-pointer that would have pushed the contest into overtime. Naturally elated with their win, the home side began to party but this was what left Reeve annoyed as emotions boiled over.

In light of the drama, the Lynx have bitten back by winning Game 2 on October 2 by a score of 77-70, before going on to claim Game 3 and the series lead with a 90-81 triumph on October 4 as Collier avenged her opening game miss by posting 26 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

The change in fortunes means that if the Lynx win Game 4 on Sunday, October 6 then they will book their ticket to the WNBA Finals, where they will face either the Las Vegas Aces or the New York Liberty. The Sun have to win to stay alive.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily have had to evacuate their home this week because of Hurricane Helene.

The hurricane hit northern Florida pretty hard, causing major flooding and power loss.

Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog left their residence before the storm hit as a means of caution. Emily furnished her followers with an update on Friday.

“Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe,” she said via Instagram. “Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn’t compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It’s unfathomable.”

Emily is grateful that Helene did not affect the Mayfield home but revealed she was “praying nonstop” for the people dealing with the impact while also offering tangible assistance.

“I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help,” she added. “Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones.”
