Women’s basketball continues to reach unprecedented heights, thanks to standout players such as Paige Bueckers. The UConn Huskies star is not only dominating on the court but is now blazing a trail off of it.
On Monday, Bueckers made history as Nike announced the launch of her own player edition sneaker, the Nike G.T. Hustle 3.
The sneaker, set to debut on December 7, marks the first time a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) athlete has designed and released a player edition shoe with the iconic brand.
The milestone reflects both Bueckers‘ influence in the sport and the expanding opportunities for college athletes in the NIL era.
The design of the Nike G.T. Hustle 3 reflects Bueckers’ personal journey and pride in her roots. The shoe features a stunning blue and purple colorway with pink and white accents, incorporating meaningful details throughout.
For example, the area codes of Storrs, Connecticut-home to UConn-and her hometown in Minnesota are displayed on the tongue, while a tribute to her father is included on the left heel. Bueckers expressed her excitement about the collaboration.
“It’s definitely motivating to wear your own shoe,” she said. “I grew up wearing Nikes – all the signature shoes – so it’s surreal to have this player edition model. I just want to show out in it.”

Bueckers, a redshirt senior, has already solidified her reputation as one of the best players in college basketball. Projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, she’s likely to join the Dallas Wings, who recently secured the top spot in the draft lottery.
While she could choose to use her final year of eligibility with the Huskies, many believe Bueckers is poised to make an immediate impact at the professional level.

The three-time Super Bowl champion has been in a relationship with Taylor Swift for over a year. Their rumored romance was confirmed when Swift attended the Chiefs’ Week 3, 2023 home game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce’s romance with Swfit has been a giant win for the Chiefs and the NFL, too. She has brought plenty more attention to the NFL and contributed to the Chiefs’ skyrocketing popularity worldwide.
Naturally, conspiracy theorists believe the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift romance is simply a marketing ploy to help the Chiefs and the league. But Chiefs president Mark Donovan finally addressed the ridiculous rumor during an appearance on NBC’s “Squawk Box” program:
“I’d love to say that it was a marketing strategy, but it is an authentic relationship. And we’re happy to have it, and it’s been nothing but good for us.
I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact it’s had on us is, Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom. She’s an authentic fan and that matters to our fans and our fan base and to matters to us and we try to respect that.”
