Caitlin Clark still holds close ties with the University of Iowa, where she rose to stardom in the basketball world. The Indiana Fever rookie spent four seasons with the Hawkeyes, breaking records and leading the team to back-to-back NCAA championship appearances.
Following the retirement of her former coach, Lisa Bluder, last season, Iowa promoted longtime assistant Jan Jensen to the head coaching role.
As Jensen steps into her new position, she has received a groundswell of support from the community, including assistant coach Abby Emmert Stamp, who recently shared a heartfelt message of encouragement on social media.
“This woman right here is leading @iowawbb in the exact way that is right in college athletics,” Stamp said.
“There is simply no one who cares about her players, staff, fans, department, and University more. Jan gives us everything she has, every single day. Jan Jensen in her best era!”
Clark, echoing the sentiment, added a simple but strong “Facts” in the comments, showing her support.
Clark‘s connection to Iowa remains strong, and she recently returned to her alma mater to watch the new team in action.
During practice, she celebrated an impressive play on the court, cheering alongside her former teammates and enjoying a lighthearted moment with Jensen.
Her visit coincided with a special recognition at the Iowa Hawkeyes football game against Northwestern, where Clark and her former teammates were honored at halftime for their achievements with the Iowa women’s basketball team.
Reflecting on her journey, Clark shared the excitement of now playing against former teammate Kate Martin in the WNBA, a reminder of the lasting bonds and memories she carries from her time at Iowa.
Sides’s dismissal
Meanwhile, a major headline this WNBA offseason is the Indiana Fever‘s decision to part ways with head coach Christie Sides after her second season with the team.

While rumors suggest that former Connecticut Sun head coach Stephanie White is the frontrunner, no official announcement has been made.
