Brink showers praise on tennis legend Venus Williams
Brink has played just one season in the WNBA and she has already emerged as one of the biggest names in the league. A fan favorite in Los Angeles, Brink had her own fan moment with tennis legend Venus Williams two years ago.
The LA Sparks player spoke with People and detailed her first impression of the seven-time Grand Slam champion. Brink said that it was two years ago, in Miami that she met Williams for the first time.
Although it is quite natural to feel overwhelmed by Venus’ greatness in tennis, Brink said that it was the elder Williams sister’s kind attitude that was most impressed with.
In her praise for the tennis legend, Brink also told People that Venus made her feel seen and made her feel empowered.
“She really takes the time to make people feel seen, that’s what she did with me, and was just such an empowering person to be around,” Brink says of Williams, adding, “I’ve looked up to her for so long.”
Brink and Williams came together in October last month to launch the “Give Her Credit” campaign. The drive was launched on the 50th anniversary of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, which would help 50 women with financial support and raise awareness in the field.
