Indiana Fever‘s standout rookie Caitlin Clark has earned a spot on the prestigious First Team All-WNBA, joining the ranks of A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier and Alyssa Thomas. This recognition caps off an impressive first year for Clark, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
After the WNBA’s announcement, Fever head coach Christie Sides shared her congratulations for Clark on social media, praising her for this significant achievement.
“Congratulations Caitlin Clark!! 5th Rookie EVER to receive this honor…proud of you!” Sides said.
In a video released by the team, Sides spoke highly of the rookie, applauding her dedication and the immediate impact she had on the team’s performance.
“She’s in the company of some of the greatest players in this league,” Sides noted.
Took the WNBA by storm
Sides, who took over as the Fever‘s head coach in 2023, saw a major shift in the team’s fortunes with Clark’s arrival. The Fever had struggled to a 13-27 record during Sides’ first season, but with Clark on board, they finished the 2024 season with a balanced 20-20 record.
This marked a significant turnaround, as it was Indiana’s first 20-win season since 2015 and their return to the playoffs after a seven-year absence. Despite their resurgence, the team was eliminated in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.
Clark‘s rookie season statistics speak to her versatility and playmaking ability. She averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the Fever‘s lineup.
