Dak Prescott may not be getting the contract that he wants, but he had reason to smile this week.
The Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott were separated for a year but made sure the divorce didn’t last long as the team signed him back to the team on Monday. Running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a reunion pending a physical, according to NFL Network.
Jerry Jones is poised to reunite Prescott with the former Dallas Cowboys star, Ezekiel Elliott, as he is returning on a one-year, $3 million deal with $2 million guaranteed via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

For Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and longtime Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, they went from coworkers to friends to best friends and brothers.
“That’s like my little brother, a best friend, obviously,” Prescott said last year before the New England Patriots took on the Dallas Cowboys.
“We came into this thing together and grew on the field and off the field. It [his time with Elliott] was awesome. Obviously, it was unfortunate for him to go play for another team, but it’s part of this business. We learn that pretty quick and seeing it when we had to part, it’s part of it. Happy for him, always pulling for him. He’s doing well. Excited for him.”
This upcoming season could prove to be both player’s final time with the team as Elliott is on a one-year deal, and Dak Prescott has one year remaining on his current contract, a four-year, $160 million deal signed in 2021.
Prescott said early in March that he was “definitely confident” that he and the Cowboys would be able to get an extension done, but that confidence has wavered over the past few weeks.
Dak Prescott Has Not Received Contract Extension He Covets During Offseason
Dak Prescott will be heading into the 2024 NFL season on the final year of his four-year, $160 million contract he signed in 2021. After a shocking elimination in the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, the landscape for the franchise drastically changed toward the 2024 season.
Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are all eyeing long-term extensions with the Cowboys in the near future.
Jerry Jones didn’t guarantee a contract extension for Dak Prescott as the QB was supposed to reset the market, but the owner is not ready to make that call yet, even with reports of a $60 million per year deal on the horizon.
“We don’t need to, but we can if everybody wants to solve it (contract extension). You can get in and get on the same page and see if you can come to an agreement. If you can’t, what we have in place works. And so obviously, if you do it one way, you’ll be working through some of the other areas on the team in a different way, but you can’t really plan on that until you see when you’re there.”
