The 22-year-old has starred in her rookie season in the WNBA and has posted impressive statistics by averaging 19.5 points per game, 5.7 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game as she spurs the Fever onto .513 record and 20 wins.
Yet despite attracting plaudits for her playstyle and her talent, Jason Whitlock decided to take a negative approach to the ex-Iowa Hawkeyes star via X.com, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, September 15.
“It’s official. Caitlin Clark is LeBron James,” Whitlock posted to Elon Musk’s website. “She just laid a defender out with a Derrick Henry stiff-arm and the refs didn’t even consider blowing a whistle.
“Plus she whines way too much. I can’t take it. Too entitled. She hooked me on the Fever. Kelsey Mitchell is my fav player.”
Whitlock was referencing an incident in the third quarter of Clark’s victory over the Dallas Wings when she tried to force her way past Jacy Sheldon, although critics felt she used her elbow to do so and it should have been called a foul.
It means the WNBA star, who could potentially become Rookie of the Year and also MVP, avoids a one-game suspension for a technical foul as she currently sits on six and is one below the limit.
Who do the Indiana Fever play next?
A ban would have meant she would miss the clash against the Washington Mystics, who are rooted joint-bottom of the Eastern Conference with a .342 record also shared by the Chicago Sky and the Atlanta Dream.
And interestingly, Clark appeared to try to use her stardom to levy the league to overlooking her technical fouls.

“Well, I didn’t think they were gonna give me a technical at any point tonight,” Clark said to media. “I would’ve been really sad for people in Washington DC (next game Thursday).”
The Indiana Fever will play the Washington Mystics on Thursday, September 15 with tip-off at the Capital One Arena expected at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.
