Well, this isn’t the first time Kevin Durant has lashed out at a heckler online. Anyways, this time, it had turned a bit serious as sporting legends Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce were involved in the issue. Nevertheless, The Slim Reaper ignored all of that and stood up for himself amid his red-hot form at the Olympics. A few hours before the altercation, the superstar grabbed a lot of attention in the hoops nation, dropping 23 points with 8/9 FG to help Team USA take a dominant win over Serbia.
Following the game, every popular analyst picked up the game-winning effort and dissected it. FS1’s Undisputed also spoke about KD with Keyshawn Johnson, Paul Pierce, and Skip Bayless on the panel. It all went well until Johnson dropped a controversial remark, indirectly disregarding Kevin’s effort during his 3-season stint with GSW. Notably, he won 2 Finals MVP in that short stint. Johnson said, “If I put Paul Pierce on the Golden State Warriors with Klay Thompson and Draymond and Steph Curry, you don’t think he could do the same sh*t.”
In response to the comment, Kevin Durant himself reacted via X. He responded to a video clip that shared the exact particular portion, and wrote, “If the jets would’ve took Jonathan Ogden, Marvin Harrison, ray lewis or Eddie George number 1 they would’ve been better off……I hate hypotheticals,” hitting back at the former New York Jets star.
However, the issue didn’t seem to end, as a fan hit the wrong nerve and Kevin Durant didn’t hesitate to fight him back. There’s no doubt that KD has been dealing with hate ever since he signed with the over-powered Dubs side. Following that stint, he has switched two teams and the naysayers still go after him for that 2016 off-season decision.
Kevin Durant shuts down the fan with a logical answer
KD gave Keyshawn Johnson a taste of his medicine, trying to disregard his legacy. Nevertheless, the Phoenix Suns superstar cleared that he isn’t a fan of “hypotheticals”. Picking on that particular word, a fan tried to call out KD. The fan wrote, “Hating hypotheticals don’t make em wrong. He right and it’s not a slight toward you. That team was 73-9 and a couple points away from another ring. A young Pierce or any halfway good star would’ve had GS running the tables for the next 2-3 years. Gotta get out them feelings Slim.”
Undoubtedly, the Warriors ruled the 2010s with a threatening team. Notably, the team broke MJ‘s Bulls (72-10) record and created history with a 73-9 record, a season before Durant’s entry. But, KD didn’t seem to worry about the fan’s comment as he shut him down, saying, “I can tell you been in your feelings since July 4th 2016. It’s over my g, in the record books..u can’t do nothin bout it.”
Even after KD’s response, the fan didn’t stop. The fan wrote, “He’ll naw, I felt better after June 2022 when Dray nem proved he was right (they could win without you)….. now you gotta get out them feelings and go get you another one.”
This time, KD didn’t have a response to the comment. Maybe winning a ring outside of the Dubs fold would end the debate once and for all for the superstar. However, that seems like something too much to ask for. Not because the Booker-Beal-Durant trio isn’t good, but the teams around them have taken full advantage of the trade window. The Phoneix side, on the other hand, owes its players over $223 million in salaries alone, with the new second apron cutoff being at $188.9 million this season.
