With Klay Thompson’s move to the Dallas Mavericks, the Golden State Warriors have locked in Stephen Curry with a one-year contract extension. However, the team still has unresolved matters regarding other key players, including rising star Jonathan Kuminga.

Recent reports from Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints suggest that the Warriors are considering offering Kuminga a contract extension worth between $140 and $155 million. Despite these rumors, no significant progress has been made.

During his recent interview with “The TK Show,”  Kuminga finally spoke out about his contract situation. Rather than focusing on what other players are achieving, Kuminga shared his commitment to staying focused on his own journey.

Everyone has their moment when God opens doors. My door hasn’t been opened yet. At some point, it will open. Obviously, soon or at any time, I know they will be open,” Kuminga said.

If you look at what others are achieving, doing, or having, it will hold you back. So, I’m not trying to slow down. I’m trying to keep doing what I always do,” adds Jonathan Kuminga.

Jonathan Kuminga Praises Stephen Curry’s Olympic Heroics

In the interview, Jonathan Kuminga expressed his admiration for teammate Stephen Curry, particularly for Curry’s remarkable performance during the Paris Olympics. In his debut Olympics appearance, Curry helped lead Team USA to a gold medal, and Kuminga was in awe of his ability to turn the game around.

The things he does, you never know. That man could go 0 for 60 in the first half, second half, he could go 60 for 60. It was incredible. And it was a big part of them pulling out that gold medal,” Kuminga said.

I always appreciate just watching him, sharing time on the court with him, and just being around. Because once [the greats are] not playing anymore, who are we going to be watching?” he added.

However, Kuminga’s future with Curry and the Warriors remains uncertain. If no contract agreement is reached by October 31st, the Warriors forward could become a restricted free agent next summer.
