Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes are opening up about their family and a scary moment that they went through.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife recently recalled the day in August 2023 when they first introduced their now 23-month-old son Patrick “Bronze” to nuts.
Nobody had a clue that all hell would break loose soon afterward.
In an Instagram video promoting a joint campaign with the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) charity, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes stated that Bronze would end up in the emergency room.
“With Bronze, I was doing early introduction,” Brittany, who is pregnant with her and Patrick’s third baby, explained in an Oct. 29 Instagram video promoting the importance of food allergy awareness. “Just with the history of Sterling having allergies, I was trying out different things with Bronze.”
On that first day with nuts, the 29-year-old recalled adding “a little packet of powder” to his bottle to see what his reaction would be.
“He took his bottle, and then within 30 or so minutes he became very irritable, very fussy,” she noted. “I took his diaper off, and it was just hives and welts everywhere.”
The symptoms of the allergic reaction soon went up to Bronze’s face, which Brittany said “started a panic inside of” her. She added, “That’s when we rushed to the emergency room.”
Patrick Mahomes also remembered the frightening moment:
“I remember how scared I was and how serious it felt, and luckily for us, the doctors were able to help, and that’s when, to me, it became a serious thing that I needed to really pay attention to,” he said.
Patrick Mahomes Has Other Issues On The Field
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not having a good year statistically.
Mahomes showed up on the team’s injury report for the first time all season on Thursday.
Mahomes is dealing with an ankle injury.
It’s unclear how Mahomes sustained this injury and how bad it is heading into their next game.
It is unlikely he will miss their Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Patrick Mahomes ranks 16th in the NFL with 1,651 passing yards, and his nine interceptions are tied for the most in the league.
The Chiefs will enter Monday night’s game as the last remaining undefeated NFL team this season.
