Jada Gyamfi discusses relationship with Caitlin Clark
Jada Gyamfi continues to maintain close ties with former Iowa teammates, especially Caitlin Clark. Gyamfi shared special ties with the trio of Clark, Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, all of whom have since moved on from their collegiate career.
Clark plays for the Indiana Fever where she was the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Marshall retired from basketball and is now in North Carolina to pursue a master’s degree in occupational therapy, while Martin plays for the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA.
“Caitlin was an easy one ’cause we could sit and laugh for hours,” Gyamfi said. “She’s really funny. I’m really funny and I knew her kind of coming into this,” Gyamfi said.
Meanwhile, the former Iowa teammates continue to celebrate each other’s successes. Iowa announced plans to retire Clark’s No. 22 jersey during a special ceremony at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Feb. 2. The announcement elicited exciting reactions, including Gyamfi’s. The senior guard posted a cheeky comment:
“”She must’ve been really good!”
Clark has become one of the most famous faces in the world of women’s basketball, but she remains loyal to Iowa, where she recorded historic stats. She averaged 28.4 points and 8.2 assists on 37.7% shooting per game over four years. She led the Hawkeyes to three Big Ten championships and two NCAA title game appearances.
