A high school football coach was among those killed in a horrific incident at the Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday.
The school was the scene of a deadly shooting in which four people lost their lives.
Richard Aspinwall, the school’s football team’s defensive coordinator, was one of them, per ESPN. The 39-year-old was listed as a math teacher and DC on the school’s website. He was a teacher and coach at Mountain View High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, before working at Apalachee.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of former Mountain View High School teacher and coach Ricky Aspinwall, who lost his life at Apalachee High School today,” the Mountain View High School athletics department said in a Facebook post. “Mountain View extends its deepest condolences to the entire Apalachee High School community.”
“To our beloved defensive coordinator Ricky Aspinwall, we will carry you heavy in our hearts. We love you Coach A!!!” the Wildcats stated in a tweet.
High School Football Coach Was One Of Two Teachers Who Perished In The Fatal Shooting Incident At Apalachee
Aspinwall was one of two teachers who were killed in the shooting, with two students also succumbing to gunshot wounds. Christina Irimie, a 53-year-old math teacher, and 14-year-old pupils Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo were killed when a shooter opened fire at the institution.
The suspect, 14-year-old Colt Gray, surrendered to authorities and is expected to be charged with murder.
The school held a vigil after the shooting on Wednesday.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigations said it was still investigating the incident, piecing together evidence to help determine the timeline of events.
A teacher and eight students were also hospitalized with injuries as a result of the shooting.
Our hearts go out to the families who were impacted by this terrible act of violence.
Social Media Is Pissed Off After Skip Bayless Claims LeBron James Shouldn’t Have Won MVP Over Stephen Curry

The 2024 Paris Olympics was Stephen Curry’s first ever appearance in the Paris Olympics. The Golden State Warriors star poured so much athleticism into his first appearance on the international stage that caught everyone’s attention, including popular NBA analyst Skip Bayless.
After Team USA’s 98-87 victory over France in the Olympics final, LeBron James was crowned with the MVP title of the tournament. Soon after that, Bayless stirred controversy by posting on social media that LeBron should not win the MVP title. Rather, the sports analyst sees Curry as the real winner of the title.
“I’M SORRY, NOW THERE’S NO WAY LEBRON IS MVP. IT HAS TO BE STEPH. 17 THREES IN THE SEMI AND THE FINAL. WE WOULD NOT HAVE WON EITHER WITHOUT HIM,” Bayless wrote in an X post.
Curry scored 24 points in the final game against France. With his outstanding shooting skills, the Warriors star hit eight three-pointers, three of which came in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. On the other hand, James contributed 14 points and 10 assists and shot an impressive 60% from the field.
