The Los Angeles Lakers began the 2024-25 NBA preseason with relatively unremarkable trades during the offseason. Despite their efforts to acquire Klay Thompson, a four-time NBA champion, they were unsuccessful. Their most notable moves were hiring JJ Redick as the head coach and re-signing their star player, LeBron James.

The fans are eagerly anticipating significant moves from the Lakers, as the trade window will stay open until February 9, 2025. Despite the high expectations, the Lakers are determined to meet them by actively pursuing a potential blockbuster trade.

During a recent appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed that the Lakers are aiming to add a big man to their roster. According to Charania, they plan to make this deal at the start of the 2024-25 NBA season.

“Sources tell me that the Lakers have been exploring potentially adding a big-man center to their roster. Not exactly sure when that will take place, but they have started looking in the marketplace,” Charania said.

The Lakers have excited their supporters by selecting Bronny James in the 2024 NBA draft. Another addition to the roster will further bolster their fans’ confidence in the team. While it is currently unclear who they will add, it will undoubtedly be an exciting development for the fans to anticipate.

As the new NBA preseason begins, fans are eagerly anticipating the lineups for the upcoming Lakers games. With Christian Wood injured and Jaxson Hayes practicing in training camp, Charania mentioned that Christian Koloko could be a player to keep an eye on.

“Another thing to keep an eye on is Christian Koloko. They signed him to a two-way contract before training camp. He was expected to play a potential reserve role on this roster,” Charania said.

The Los Angeles Lakers will play against the Golden State Warriors in the next preseason game. It will be intriguing to see which players coach Redick will select for the starting lineup.
