Basketball fans have seen many current and former NBA players undergo significant physical transformations throughout the league’s history. Some players have either gained or lost weight, which has surprised their fans. However, in the case of San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan, this resulted in a complete change in his appearance.

Duncan, who is widely regarded as the greatest power forward of all time, was mostly seen during his time in the NBA with short hair and a light beard. However, a recent photo of him has been making rounds on social media, showing him with a drastically different appearance, making him almost unrecognizable to his fans and followers.

During Duncan’s daughter’s recent volleyball games at Stanford University, the former NBA player was spotted with long dreadlocks and a grey beard, as seen in a recent post by College Sports Only on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Tim Duncan’s transformation into a cruise ship steel drums player has finally been explained,” College Sports Only wrote in their post on X.

Julius Erving Believes Duncan Deserves a Spot in All NBA Great Players List

Duncan, who was recently compared to Kevin Garnett, played his entire 19-year career for the San Antonio Spurs. The 48-year-old’s stellar skills led the Spurs to five NBA championships. The Spurs legend is a two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP, and 15-time NBA All-Star.

During an interview with Heavy.com in 2018, former NBA player Julius Erving spoke highly of Tim Duncan, praising his impact and influence on the game of basketball. The three-time NBA Champion also insisted that Duncan should be included in all discussions of the greatest players of all time.

When you start doing all-time players and start picking your top five, your top ten, or your top fifteen, whatever, Tim Duncan needs to show up in that conversation,” Erving said.

Duncan was appointed as an assistant coach for the Spurs in July 2019. He served for one season before stepping down on November 12, 2020.
