Former LSU forward Angel Reese, right, jokes with former LSU and NBA...

It’s become very common for many athletes to use their fame to connect with fans and sports enthusiasts through podcasts or TV shows. In most cases, it’s simply better to hear directly from the athletes themselves as they talk about their accomplishments or the challenges they’ve faced. Celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo, Tom Brady, Paul George, Pat McAfee and Micah Parsons are already doing this. As for female athletes with podcasts, one of the most popular this year is “Unapologetically” with Angel Reese, who has gained a lot of notoriety in recent months thanks to her historic season, which unfortunately ended early due to injury.

Shaq Gets Candid About Love and Loneliness

Reese has managed to grow her following, boasting 4.4 million followers on Instagram and 4.6 million on TikTok, where her videos have garnered over 100 million likes. On her weekly podcast, which airs every Thursday, Reese hosts different guests, and her most recent guest was Shaquille O’Neal, with whom she has a great connection as they are both LSU alumni and have a similar style of play on the court. Reese asked Shaq if he would ever get married again, to which he replied, “Probably not, I might end up alone, I already know that”. Judge for yourself the ex NBA answer and decide if you agree with him, why he might just end up alone.

In the part where he says, “There’s no manual on how to be the perfect man or husband,” he’s right, but there’s also no manual on how to be the perfect woman or wife, so he could have provided a little more context for his answer. Shaq, who is 52 years old, received some humorous comments such as “Shaq must be close to 60 years old; bro, you ended up alone,” and “You could always date Charles Barkley,” with most responses pointing out that he’s too old to make such statements. In the video, you can see Reese looking a little confused by his response, probably expecting something more mature – but hey, we’re not here to tell Shaq how to respond.

Reese’s podcast is part of Shaquille O’Neal‘s “The Big Podcast Network” under Playmaker HQ. With Shaq and Angel sharing an LSU background and similar rebounding skills, their collaboration seems like a natural fit. Reese is expected to be sidelined for several months until she returns to the WNBA, but before that, she’ll be participating in Unrivaled.

Unrivaled is an innovative 3v3 professional women’s basketball league featuring 6 teams of 5 players each. The inaugural season will begin in January 2025 in Miami. Reese will play alongside WNBA stars such as Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young. The league is co-founded by reigning WNBA champion Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty and Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.
