Simone Biles' Olympic vault final domination prompts unusual celebration from Jonathan Owens

Paris has been Simone Biles‘ playground. The United States gymnast has claimed three gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, putting the disappointment of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo far behind her to reassert her claim as the greatest gymnast that the Games have ever seen.

Biles has continued winning even without her husband Jonathan Owens cheering her on in Paris. That hasn’t stopped Owens, a safety for the NFL‘s Chicago Bears, from celebrating her historic run, even with a return to Bears training camp beckoning.

Owens: Simone is the s**t

After Biles won her seventh Olympic gold in Saturday’s vault final, Owens took to social media (X/TwitterandInstagram Stories) to say that his wife is “the s**t” — a comparatively-muted reaction given the controversy that arose over Biles “letting” him don one of her gold medals.

Biles again overcame Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade in the vault final, after Andrade pushed her all the way in Thursday’s all-around individual final. It took Biles’ haul at these Olympics to three gold medals, and her total Olympic medal count into double-digits — giving the 27-year-old another chance to take a shot across the bow at her detractors.

Owens, who signed a two-year contract with the Bears this spring, quickly endeared himself to Chicago and scored five days off to watch Biles at the Olympics — where she did not disappoint. Biles can snag two more gold medals in Paris if she wins the balance beam and floor exercises on Monday, which would bring more hardware to the couple’s trophy cabinet.
