Fans are praying for ‘Varsity Blues’ star James Van Der Beek following his troubling revelation over the weekend.

Van Der Beek, also known for roles in shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Bad Hair,’ revealed he has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer and has taken the necessary steps to fight it.

“I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family,” the actor told People.

“There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good.”

The disclosure has prompted an outpouring of support online.

“Van Der Beek’s openness about his colorectal cancer diagnosis is commendable. It raises awareness about the condition and highlights the importance of family support during tough times. Wishing him strength in his journey,” a comment reads.

“Prayer James is going out to you tonight. Was reading an article when you name came up. I dont know you personally, but do know this fight;  praying for your success on beating it. Stay positive, proactive, and focus on getting better. A fan,” someone wrote.

James Van Der Beek Is Dealing With A Common Health Issue

Van Der Beek’s issue is not very unique in that colorectal cancer – which begins in the colon or rectum – is the third-most common cancer among both men and women in the United States, per the American Cancer Society.

One in 23 men and one in 25 women are expected to be diagnosed with this form of cancer in their lifetime.

TPS would like to wish James a full recovery amid this difficult time.
