Stephen A. Smith unabashedly reveals the surprising reason why he has never been married
Stephen A. Smith, one of ESPN’s most recognizable personalities, recently admitted that his demanding work schedule and personal outlook have kept him from ever walking down the aisle.
Speaking candidly on Cam’ron‘s Talk With Flee podcast, Smith shared why he believes marriage doesn’t fit into his life, offering a raw and honest take on his choices.
Smith, who has been a staple on ESPN for years, revealed that his work ethic has been a significant barrier to relationships. With a schedule that reportedly keeps him working 330 days a year and traveling for 200 of those, Smith explained why he couldn’t commit to the idea of marriage.

“It is the reason why I’ve never been married,” he told Cam’ron. “Because I was on the road 200 days out of the year, and the fact of the matter is at that time it was no way in hell I was going to be faithful. I knew that, so why the hell am I going to sit up there and violate my marital vows knowing ahead of time I ain’t going to honor them?”
Fans React to Smith’s Brutal Honesty
While Smith‘s admission showcased a level of self-awareness, it sparked mixed reactions from fans, many of whom questioned the true motives behind his decision.
“Bro you don’t gotta get all articulate. Just say you enjoy having money and h**s,” one fan commented on social media.
Another added: “Men that wear sunglasses indoors regardless of the lighting are self-absorbed and can’t be trusted.”
Others dismissed his explanation altogether.

“I don’t think that’s the reason,” one user wrote, while another recalled seeing Smith off-air frequently: “I coulda swore when I used to watch First Take, bro was gone every other month.”
Though Smith’s admission seems definitive, it raises questions about whether his perspective could shift if he met someone willing to accommodate his demanding lifestyle.
