Troy Aikman has gained millions of enemies when it comes to Taylor Swift fans.
The ESPN commentator and former football quarterback acknowledged that he may have made a mistake when discussing Taylor Swift during the singer’s appearance on Monday Night Football.
After the cameras cut to Taylor Swift clapping and cheering during Monday’s broadcast following a good play from Kelce, Aikman shockingly said, “The Mrs. likes it.”
Joe Buck called him out when he said, “You know they’re not married, right?”
Acknowledging his mess-up, Aikman replied, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”
He did not seem to think he was in much trouble because he then went on a podcast and stated, “Someone reached out to me and said they might actually be engaged. I might have broke the story,” Aikman said.
TMZ later reported that the couple is not engaged.
“It’s not true, and the recent erratic and unfounded speculation on this couple is just proving that media and overzealous fans do not know what’s going on with them and shouldn’t make wild assumptions based on zero facts,” a source told the outlet. “Two days ago, everyone had decided they were broken up. Now they’re allegedly secretly engaged? It’s whiplash-inducing.”
Taylor Swift fans made sure he felt the brunt of their anger by calling Aikman out on social media.
