Las Vegas wants his expertise in one area in particular.
News struck on Tuesday that the NFL finally approved Tom Brady‘s next move in his career. The legendary former quarterback has now purchased a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, something that had been rumored to be happening for quite a long time. Although the move was expected, it seems like it will create some conflicts with his broadcasting job with Fox Sports.
It appears there are restrictions in place when it comes to Brady speaking negatively about other franchises and of NFL referees, in addition to not being able to attend broadcast production meetings. That has fans wondering how exactly he will perform at his job, but time will tell how being a part-owner affects the role. While that side of the whole ordeal gets ironed out, Raiders controlling owner Mark Davis has a plan for Brady to help the team almost immediately.
Tom Brady to select the Raiders’ next franchise QB?
No, Brady isn’t coming out of retirement to suit up at quarterback again. But when asked what role Brady will play for the Raiders, Davis said he wants Brady to be very involved in drafting and grooming a franchise quarterback for the team.
Although Tom can’t play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future, and potentially train him as well. So that’s a huge benefit for the organization.

Brady definitely knows a thing or two about the position, but he hasn’t done any scouting or even participated in the draft process for a team in the past. It’s not as easy as just letting him choose the draft prospect he likes most.
But there’s no denying that Davis brought Brady in due to his expertise and reputation. He’s hoping this will be a short-term and long-term solution for the struggling franchise.
