Dallas Cowboys fans are just coming off an extreme high of seeing their team defeat the Washington Commanders and keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
Days later, the team’s owner decided to take them down a notch with his comments on the head coach.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that considering an extension for head coach Mike McCarthy is not “crazy at all.”
“I don’t think that’s crazy at all. This is a Super Bowl-winning coach,” Jones said when asked about the potential extension Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
“Mike McCarthy has been there and done that. He has great ideas. We got a lot of football left.”

McCarthy is in the final season of the five-year contract he signed with the franchise in 2020, and this season was believed to be his final one if the Dallas Cowboys did not advance at least to the NFC Championship game.

With Dak Prescott sidelined for the rest of the 2024 season, the 4-7 Dallas Cowboys are on track for their worst record under his tenure so far.
So far, Mike McCarthy has a 46-32 record while head of the Cowboys. The team only has one playoff victory in that time span.
Dallas Cowboys Have Chance At Sneaking Into The Playoffs
Dallas is 4-7. Prescott is out for the season with a hamstring injury, and Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat.
However, the Cowboys salvaged their season and kept their slim playoff hopes alive after their victory over the Commanders in Week 12.
The Dallas Cowboys are 4-7 and now have a 3.5% chance to make the playoffs. It is very slim, but still very possible if they can string together more victories.
