Brian Branch had a rough first half against the Green Bay Packers.
The Lions have lost their free safety after an illegal hit.
One of the more critical games on the NFL’s Week 9 slate is a pivotal game between NFC North rivals the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions, and Branch will not be available for the entirety of the game.
Defensive back Brian Branch was ejected after a helmet-to-helmet hit with Green Bay Packers wide receiver Bo Melton.
The moment came in the second quarter as the Packers were facing a second-and-20.
Branch came in late and collided with Melton on an overthrown pass. The refs flagged him with unnecessary roughness, then ejected following a pause in the game.
He then had to be pushed away from the refs for yelling at them and would receive an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty moments after being ejected.
Brian Branch reportedly made a gesture towards Packers fans.
Here’s the full sequence of Brian Branch getting ejected. Don’t think anyone saw an ejection coming here.
Seems to be very bang-bang. Thoughts?

After it was all said and done, the Packers’ ensuing drive ended in a missed field goal by Brandon McManus.
This is a major loss for the Lions, as Branch is one of their best players.
Branch had two tackles at the time of his ejection.
Brian Branch Will Hear from The League Office
Lions defensive back Brian Branch was ejected from today’s game against the Packers.
Branch hit Packers receiver Bo Melton in the head on an incomplete pass, which drew many flags for unnecessary roughness.
It took the league office to review the play and eject him from the game.
Brian Branch is likely to hear from the league office once again in the form of a hefty fine.
As for the fans, while most agreed that the hit was dirty, the majority weren’t quite convinced that it was worthy of an ejection:
