Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is facing multiple injury challenges during the 2024-25 NBA season. In the first month, he suffered a wrist injury that sidelined him for six games. More recently, Doncic dealt with a heel contusion, resulting in him missing two consecutive games.

While recovering, Doncic reflected on his aspirations for the NBA MVP award amidst these injury setbacks. In a recent interview with 24UR.com, Doncic made it clear that his main focus is on bringing home the Championship instead of chasing the MVP title.

“Yes, I think it’s around 10 more games or something like that. But it’s better this (the injuries) happens now. My focus point really is a ring, so that doesn’t matter right now.” Doncic said.

To qualify for the NBA MVP award, players must participate in at least 65 games and play at least 20 minutes in each game. This means a player can miss up to 17 games throughout the season. So far, Luka Doncic has missed eight of the Mavericks’ 28 games.

Luka Doncic Shares His Thoughts On Injuries

Despite Doncic missing several games, the Dallas Mavericks are in a strong position in the 2024-25 NBA season. They currently sit fourth in the Western Conference standings with 18 wins and 10 losses. Doncic is in good condition but remains questionable for the next game against the Portland Trail Blazers. In an interview with 24UR.com, the Slovenian basketball player discussed his mentality regarding injuries.

“Little problems are very annoying, but it’s better to have it early in the season than later,” Doncic said.

Despite facing injuries, Doncic has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to his team. In a recent interview, fans noticed visible marks on his body that reflect his efforts. The Mavericks star is averaging 28.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists this season. Fans are hopeful that Doncic will play in the next game and maintain his performance to secure the MVP title.
