Sports fans are teeing off on FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd for getting duped by a fake tweet from an X/Twitter account posing as Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce.

X chairman Elon Musk made global headlines on Tuesday when he sent out a tweet directed at Taylor Swift after the beloved singer endorsed Kamala Harris on Instagram. Musk told Swift in an X post, “I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.” Though Kelce didn’t respond to the post about his girlfriend, Colin Cowherd certainly thought he did.

In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the post from Musk:

Someone on social media then photoshopped an image to make it look like Kelce himself tweeted back at Musk, threatening to twist the SpaceX founder “into a pretzel.” Again, this is a FAKE tweet that Kelce did not actually write:

But while speaking on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”, the veteran sports journalist got totally duped by the fake tweet. On his show, Colin Cowherd stated that the superstar tight end “took a shot at Elon Musk on X.”

As you’d expect, social media had a field day mocking Colin Cowherd for getting tricked into thinking that Kelce posted this:

Following Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris, it was reported that Travis Kelce will also publicly endorse the Vice President. Harris is running against Republican Donald Trump, who could join Grover Cleveland as the only other president to serve two non-consecutive terms.

Not Colin Cowherd’s Finest Moment

Cowherd is one of the most polarizing figures in sports journalism. He’s used to the criticism that comes with non-stop controversial hot takes, but this moment definitely leaves eggs on his face.

It’s just another reminder not to believe everything you read on the Internet and to always fact-check when you’re doing fact-based research or watching television.

Kevin Durant has wrapped up the Paris Olympics in remarkable fashion, becoming the only player in history to win four gold medals in men’s basketball. After returning from injury to lead Team USA, Durant’s performance has fueled high expectations for the Phoenix Suns in the upcoming NBA season.

Amid this success, Durant’s time with the Golden State Warriors has come back into focus, especially through the words of his mother, Wanda Durant. Wanda recently boldly stated that if Team USA’s top scorer had stayed with the Warriors team, they could have dominated the league for years.

We would’ve had 20 rings by now. And it was about 10 years ago. That’s how cold they were,” Wanda said on the latest episode of TV One’s “Raising Fame.

Durant joined the Warriors in 2016 and quickly made an impact, leading the team to two consecutive championships in 2017 and 2018. However, after the 2018 season, Durant left Golden State and signed with the Brooklyn Nets. He departed after a difficult 2019 NBA Finals, where he suffered a ruptured Achilles while playing against the Toronto Raptors.
