It seems that the Madden 25 developers didn’t care about Xavier Worthy’s record at the NFL Combine.LAPRESSE

The Kansas City Chiefs’ latest wide receiver sensation, Xavier Worthy, is making headlines for reasons beyond his blazing speed on the field. Worthy, the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, is boycotting Madden 25 after being snubbed in the game’s speed ratings.

Despite setting a new record with a 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the NFL CombineMadden only rated him with a 98-speed attribute, placing him behind Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill, who holds a 99-speed rating.

Worthy took to Instagram to voice his frustration, stating, “Finna boycott the game.” The rookie’s dissatisfaction echoes a common sentiment among players regarding Madden’s rating system, which has faced criticism from numerous NFL stars.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson also recently criticized Madden for not ranking him among the top 10 safeties. Similarly, Puka Nacua, after a historic rookie season, was given an overall rating of just 84, while the Seattle Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett retained an 88 rating despite a less impressive season.

Worthy is expected to perform strongly this season

The Chiefs, eager to boost their receiving corps, added both Worthy and Marquise Brown this offseason. With Patrick Mahomes at the helm, along with offensive weapons like Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, the Chiefs’ offense is poised to be explosive.

Worthy, despite his Madden rating of 75, is expected to make a significant impact in his rookie season, potentially rising to an 80+ rating by the end of the year.

Here are the Madden 25 ratings for all of the Chiefs’ wide receivers:

Marquise Brown: 81
Rashee Rice: 81
Kadarius Toney: 77
Mecole Hardman: 76
Xavier Worthy: 75
Justin Watson: 74

Justyn Ross: 72
Skyy Moore: 72
Montrell Washington: 68
Cornell Powell: 67

As the 2024 NFL season looms, Worthy has already started making waves at Chiefs training camp, earning accolades from quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy ReidKansas City’s preseason kicks off on August 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with the regular season opener set for September 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.
