Cameron Brink could be ready to go for the 2025 WNBA season as the Los Angeles Sparks‘ ace recovers from her Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury that devastated her rookie campaign after just 15 games.

Selected as the overall second pick in the draft, the 22-year-old was tipped for big things in the same class as the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark but the Stanford graduate didn’t get much of a chance to prove it.

She was taken off the court on June 19th against the Connecticut Suns with the horrific knee injury and sidelined for the rest of the year, although she did show flashes of her talent by shooting for 15+ points three times.

Now as she begins her rehabilitation through calisthenics as she looks to rebuild muscle in her left leg, she has a target in mind to be there for the Sparks’ opening game on May 16 against the WNBA’s latest team: the Golden State Valkyries, who are based in San Francisco.

“One step at a time,” Brink posted to Instagram, showing herself working out in the gym with squats, leg presses and dumbbells, as well as various other pushing movements, in a post that gained over 47,000 likes.

And it’s no surprise that fans were hyped to see the young woman, who is known for her fashion sense, returning to fitness as they took to the comments of the Mark Zuckerberg-owned app to hype her up.

One user wrote, “Yes bae work them knees out! Can’t wait to see you back on the court!”

A second commented, “MY QUEEN IS GONNA BE BACK TO DOMINATE IN NO TIME, LET’S GOOOOOOOO!”

A third said, “Miss seeing you play…I hope your rehab is going well for my fav Stanford WNBA player!”

And a fourth stated, “Road to recovery is looking great! We’re so proud of you.”

Sparks look to end barren run in 2025

With Brink at the helm, the LA Sparks will look to end a torrid run in recent seasons that has seen them miss the WNBA Playoffs consecutively since the 2020 campaign, when they reached the Second Round.

In 2024, they finished bottom of the entire league standings with an 8-32 record. Whilst they were one win behind the Dallas Wings, they were a worrying 11 back from the .475 Phoenix Suns.

With the overall second pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and Brink due to return, they could essentially have a new starting five and could be set to climb up the order to end their postseason drought.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark sparked some fun conversation after a lively exchange during a TikTok Live session hosted by her former Iowa Hawkeye teammates, Gabbie Marshall and Jada Gyamfi. Clark’s candid comments ranged from playful critiques of Marshall’s headphones to sharing that she was playing Scrabble during the live stream.

These interactions highlight the friendly camaraderie between Clark and her former teammates, even after becoming a household name since moving to the WNBA. The Fever star maintains close ties with her Iowa friends, frequently participating in lighthearted social media exchanges that reflect their strong bonds.

Earlier this year, on the podcast “Talking Hawks with the VandeBergs,” Jada Gyamfi discussed her relationship with her Hawkeye seniors, emphasizing how she leaned on them for support. She noted that Clark’s humorous and friendly nature made it easy for them to connect.

“Caitlin was an easy one cause we could sit and laugh for hours. She’s really funny. I’m really funny and I knew her kind of coming into this,” she said back then.

As well as their interactions over social media, the former teammates continue to celebrate each other’s achievements. Iowa recently announced plans to retire Clark’s No. 22 jersey during a special ceremony at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on February 2. The announcement was met with widespread praise, including a cheeky comment from Gyamfi, who remarked: “She must’ve been really good!”

Clark’s NCAA career at Iowa was nothing short of historic as she went on to average 28.4 points and 8.2 assists per game over four years, and shooting 37.7% from beyond the arc. Her leadership propelled the Hawkeyes to three Big Ten championships and two NCAA title game appearances in 2023 and 2024.

“I’m forever proud to be a Hawkeye, and Iowa holds a special place in my heart that goes beyond basketball,” Clark said of her time at Iowa.
