Caitlin Clark was nothing short of sensational during her first season in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever where she set numerous records on her way to winning Rookie of the Year honors and joining teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell as All-Stars.
And the future is bright for Clark and the Fever with Indiana basketball legend Stephanie White returning home to take over the reins as head coach this season. With all these factors in place, the team has aspirations of hanging more banners in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Caitlin Clark has a joyful response when she signs autographs for her youngest fans ever
Clark set a WNBA record for assists in a single season and also led the league in 3-pointers made, one of the reasons why she instantly connected with thousands of basketball fans nationwide and even abroad. The age range of Caitlin’s fans is wide: anywhere from elders to toddlers and even people that haven’t even been born.
The Indiana Fever Instagram account posted a video of Clark meeting her youngest fans, which was definitely “one of the best moments” of 2024, according to the team.
In the video we can see the WNBA player next to a woman who’s holding a two-weeks old baby girl and according to her mother, the newborn is Caitlin Clark’s “biggest fan”. The young basketball superstar looks happy and got to hold the baby.
“I signed an ultrasound once.”, reminisced Clark as she seemed to enjoy the interaction with her fans, especially with the youngest ones. No wonder the former Iowa Hawkeyes player got named Time’s 2024 Athlete of the year as the magazine called her “an emergent American sports icon” whose “ability is still mesmerizing”.
The road ahead for Clark and Indiana Fever
The Fever’s first 11 games are spaced out over a full month with no back-to-backs. Travel will also be lighter over the first month, as just four of Indiana’s first 11 games are on the road, and all of those trips are to Eastern Conference cities, according to the team’s website.
“There are still some challenging games over that stretch, with two games against each of New York and Connecticut, but all four of those games will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.” added the team.
