Tommy Lazzaro (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)A former college quarterback who was a sergeant in the United States Army has reportedly passed away following a hunting accident. Tommy Lazzaro, who played for Central Michigan University, was tragically killed in Florida last weekend.
According to multiple sources, the 27-year-old lost his life in what the Walton County Sheriff’s Office referred to as “a tragic hunting accident” at Eglin Air Force Base.
TaskandPurpose.com reported that Lazzaro was errantly shot by a hunter at the Eglin range.
The former QB joined the army after graduating and was attached to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

Col. Patrick Nelson, 7th SFG (A) commander, bemoaned the loss as he offered condolences to Tommy Lazzaro’s family.
“We deeply mourn the loss of U.S. Army Sgt. Thomas Lazzaro of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne),” Nelson said in a statement, “We will never forget his dedication, courage, and commitment to safeguarding our freedoms. His absence leaves a void that will be felt professionally and personally among those who had the honor of working with Thomas. Our heartfelt condolences extend to his family, friends, and comrades during this difficult time.”
Central Michigan confirmed their former student-athlete’s passing this Thursday. His former coach also made a statement, talking up his impact as a leader while noting how badly he will be missed.
“When we took over the program, Tommy was truly our leader in so many ways,” former CMU HC Jim McElwain said. “CMU Football was blessed to have him and will always remember him for all he did for many of us. He will be missed by all of the Chippewas.”

Tommy Lazzaro helped Turn Things Around At CMU
Tommy Lazzaro played for the program from 2016 to 2019, making five starts from 20 appearances. He completed 72 of 149 passes for 758 yards, five touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also added 133 carries for 542 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Colorado native made a telling impact on the Chippewas, who went from 1-11 in 2018 to 8-6, as well as the MAC Championship Game and the New Mexico Bowl.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

REPORT: Authorities In Texas Have Put Out Warrants For The Arrest Of Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson is in some legal hot water, with authorities in Fort Bend County, Texas, issuing warrants in his name.
According to USA Today, the warrants are out as a result of the former NFL MVP failing to appear in court for two separate child support cases.
“The current legal case is related to a misunderstanding regarding Adrian’s court appearances as it relates to child support, and he is actively working with his legal team to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” Peterson’s publicist Denise White told the publication.
“He is committed to clearing up this situation and moving forward positively.”
