When it comes to sports debates, it’s rare to get universal consensus. Sports are emotional and subjective, and fans like different things when it comes to how certain players play the sport. That’s why the debate about who the best player in basketball history is, has been contentious and controversial, while also being impossible.

But for most fans, it comes down to two players: Michael Jordan and LeBron James. MJ’s career was legendary, and his off-court brand was and remains iconic. He sparked a global basketball revolution, all while winning six rings and being named NBA Finals MVP all six times. James, meanwhile, continues to break every record imaginable and looks capable of playing for several more years.

Their play styles are different, but Jordan backers tend to fall back on one specific argument: James wouldn’t be able to dominate in Jordan’s era, where defenses were harder to play against and much more physical. While fans debate if James would have survived in that era, Jordan has already dispelled that theory.

Michael Jordan’s four players who could play in his era of basketball

MJ was interviewed back in 2013 by ESPN’s Wright Thompson, and there were four main players Jordan could think of that would be able to hold their own and perform at a top level in his era.

Kobe Bryant

James was 10 years into his NBA career when Jordan put his name on that esteemed list, and LeBron has only gotten better since then. James’ overall game and play style transcends eras, in addition to his strength and muscular build.

While many put Kobe on the level of Jordan and James, the main debate will continue to rage on, with MJ and LeBron at the forefront.

Although there are still five months to go until the start of the 2025 WNBA season, Caitlin Clark can’t wait any longer. The Indiana Fever guard has made the most of her first offseason, but a recent comment on Instagram made it clear that she is eager to return to the court.

Clark had an exceptional first year as a professional. Not only did she break several rookie and overall records, but she was also a key piece in the team’s return to the postseason after an eight-year absence.

After being eliminated in the first round of playoffs, the former Iowa Hawkeye dedicated herself to enjoying a well-deserved rest, attending several college basketball games, NBA games, and even some NFL games. However, a Fever Instagram post reignited the competitive fire in Clark.

Aliyah Boston ignited Caitlin Clark

In a recent Instagram clip, the Fever showed forward/center Aliyah Boston working out on the court with a trainer. The clip is only a couple of minutes long, but you can see that Boston is taking her upcoming debut with Vinyl BC in the 3×3 Unrivaled league very seriously.

Boston’s intense work inspired Clark, who responded by saying, “GOT ME FIRED UP.” Acknowledging Clark’s enthusiasm, Boston replied, “AS YOU SHOULD BE.” Clark wasn’t the only one. Teammate, guard Lexie Hull, also responded to the video by saying, “Yes, ma’am.”

Meanwhile, the team captioned the post, “On the offseason grind with Aliyah Boston at Worcester Academy.” However, Clark, Boston, and Hull still have plenty of offseason left. The 2025 WNBA season kicks off on May 16, and Indiana will be in action on the 17th, hosting Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky.
