Sean Elliott, a name etched in the hearts of San Antonio Spurs fans for nearly a decade, recently captured headlines not for his on-court prowess but for a health scare that brought fans together in support and concern.
His wife Claudia took to social media to share a heartfelt message. She revealed how Sean’s Apple Watch alerted him to irregular heartbeats, prompting immediate medical attention. Despite experiencing no symptoms, the watch’s timely warning led to a hospital admission and subsequent treatment.
“Grateful for the gift of health, an Apple Watch, and the very best healthcare system! Sean wasn’t experiencing any symptoms, but for the last couple of weeks, his Apple watch had been warning him he was in Atrial Fibrillation,” Claudia wrote on Instagram.
Atrial fibrillation, or A-Fib, is a condition where the heart beats irregularly and chaotically and can lead to severe complications such as strokes. Fortunately, thanks to the expertise of Methodist Health Care SA’s cardiology team, Sean underwent diagnostic tests and a cardioversion procedure.
The news of Sean Elliott’s health setback resonated deeply with NBA fans, prompting an outpouring of support and well-wishes across social media platforms.
Many expressed hopes for his swift recovery, eager to see him back, perhaps even in time for the Spurs’ upcoming pre-season games.
