The 'Angel Reese Effect' makes its presence felt in the NBA

Angel Reese, the 22-year-old WNBA star for the Chicago Sky, is making her presence known far beyond the basketball court.

This offseason, Reese has captivated NBA fans with her vibrant courtside appearances, sparking discussions about her uncanny ability to bring good fortune to home teams. Dubbed the “Angel Reese Effect,” her influence has become a talking point across social media.

Courtside Fashion and Energy

Reese‘s courtside appearances aren’t just about her infectious energy-they’re also a showcase of her impeccable style. Most recently, Reese attended the Boston Celtics vs. Orlando Magic game at the Kia Center, effortlessly turning heads in a chic, winter-ready outfit.

She wore a sleek little black dress with beige fur details on the collar and cuffs, paired with a beige Chanel mini handbag. Reese‘s radiant smile and warm greetings further enhanced her magnetic presence, making her a standout figure at the game.

While fans couldn’t get enough of her stunning look, many couldn’t help but notice a trend: Reese‘s courtside visits seem to coincide with home team victories. The Orlando Magic’s 108-104 win over the Celtics was no exception.

The ‘Angel Reese Effect’ Takes Over

On social media platform X, fans have been buzzing about Reese‘s apparent streak of good luck for home teams. One user noted, “Home teams have gone 12-0 in games when Angel Reese has been in attendance.” This unbroken streak has earned her the title of a “lucky charm” for the teams she cheers on.

Even Reese herself joined in on the fun, humorously asking about the “record” tied to her attendance. Fans have since flooded her with invitations to attend games for their favorite teams. “Come save the Sacramento Kings please,” one fan pleaded, while another joked, “Stay away from my guys!”

However, the streak isn’t entirely flawless. Reese‘s attendance at a New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic game at Madison Square Garden saw the Magic fall 100-91. Yet, her appearance at another Magic game against the Detroit Pistons resulted in a decisive 111-100 victory for Orlando.

A Rising Influence

Angel Reese‘s charisma, style, and undeniable energy are leaving a lasting impression on NBA fans and players alike.

As her streak continues to attract attention, fans are eager to see where the “Angel Reese Effect” will land next.

Fans declare Angel Reese should sue after a headline uploaded to Snapchat suggests the Chicago Sky star is going to quit the WNBA after one year, as fans grow tired of the headlines around her.

One of the most popular and controversial players in women’s basketball, the 22-year-old is often in the news but now fans believe the boundary of acceptability has been crossed and thus she should make a stand for herself after the latest episode.

This time, the headline suggests she will quit the WNBA “again”, but the catch is that she never quit it to begin with meaning that this is misinformation at best and disinformation at worst and aims to use her image to collect clicks.

The outcome is that fans are left incensed and have taken to X.com, formerly Twitter, to voice their frustrations as they say the problem spans multiple social media platforms and not just Snapchat.

One user wrote, “I’m sick of it!! It’s time to sue!!”

A second added, “It’s getting out of hand honestly.”

Whilst a third said, “Can’t even search her name on YouTube it’s so bad.”

And a fourth concluded, “Disgusting, You Tube is bad as well! As a fan I just keep reporting everything that I can!”

Reese delivers message to critics

Reese, despite being so confidently outspoken, is yet to comment on the matter but she did recently take up issue with her critics after she attended an NBA game during her winter break as she watched the Boston Celtics take on the Orlando Magic.

The youngster backed the Magic for the win, through their association with Shaquille O’Neal who is her mentor, and she wasn’t disappointed as the scarcely-manned Floridian side won 1-8-104 at the Kia Center.

Reese then took the chance to hit out at some of her haters online by rhetorically and sarcastically asking, “What’s my record now???”

She will next take to the WNBA court on May 17 when she takes on Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever to kick off the 2025 season. The Sky look to improve on their .325 record (13 wins) from the previous year.
