3 Disturbing One Piece Facts: Gol D. Roger’s Mustache and Luffy’s Mysterious Wano Ally!

Although One Piece is quite a wholesome narrative, it has some weird and disturbing fans that fans of the series might not be aware of

SUMMARY

One Piece is known for a lot of things, be it the characters or the narrative.
However, beneath these wonderful aspects, there are some disturbing facts hidden that fans don’t know about.
These facts are quite weird and most of them have been used by Eiichiro Oda to create humor.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has been at the top of the game since its beginning because of its eccentric characters, enticing storyline, and marvelous world-building. These aspects have been top-notch for almost thirty years and have helped the series build a fanbase that rivals the population of many countries and nations.

However, beneath all these intriguing concepts, there are some disturbing facts that Oda has embedded within One Piece just for the fun of it. These facts might be unknown to most of the fans but taking a deeper dive into the One Piece storyline not only discloses them but also reveals how weird Oda can get sometimes.

Out of all those facts, the three that are a little more concerning than usual involve three characters from One Piece. The first is Franky, the second is Bunbuku, and finally, the last one is Gol D. Roger, the former Pirate King of One Piece.

1. The weird lines of Franky’s cyborg hands

As One Piece fans know, Franky is a cyborg who did modifications to himself to make his body more convenient and powerful. These modifications proved to be quite successful as they not only helped Franky in battle but also made him more efficient while working on the Thousand Sunny.

Out of all the modifications, the one that might feel a little weird is his hands. Franky’s hands look robotic in appearance, but they also hide a set of normal-sized robotic hands within them. But the thing that makes them uncanny are the lines that appear on the robotic hands.

When Oda was asked about these lines in One Piece SBS Volume 102, the manga creator revealed that these lines are actually his own hair growing out of his mechanical body. This is one of the most disturbing aspects of Franky’s physical appearance.

2. Tama’s alive teapot has a strange secret

During the Wano arc, when Tama brought Luffy back to Hitetsu’s home in Amigasa Village, fans got to know about Bunbuku, a teapot that came alive by eating the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Tanuki. He originally belonged to Hitetsu, but he also cared for Tama very much.

Although a teapot coming to life is weird enough, Oda once told fans in One Piece SBS Volume 93 that the mat that Bunbuku sits on is actually his own scrotum. The manga creator stated that he hoped someone would notice it but maybe he didn’t give much focus to it.

He even pointed out that when he was creating Bunbuku’s character, he specifically had this aspect of his character in his mind, and he found it very funny. This was indeed one of the most eerie facts of One Piece.

3. Gol D. Roger’s mustache change

One Piece fans might not have noticed it, but Gol D. Roger’s character design went through a significant change within the series. This change was mostly limited to his face and his mustache, which is a part of his identity. However, initially, it was not his mustache.

In One Piece Green: Secret Pieces, the fourth databook of the series, Eiichiro Oda revealed that the facial hair on Roger’s face was not actually his mustache. In fact, it was his nose hair that grew so big that it looked like he had a full set of mustache.

However, later on, Oda decided to change this aspect of Roger’s character and gave him a proper mustache. These facts are certainly eerie and quite disturbing, but still, they add a different perspective to the One Piece narrative.
